gB. 0 Posted July 29, 2013 Iconic orange aaaaaaall the way. As Del stated, you'll be disappointed and always wish you would have gone for the orange. I swapped a Yobokie AR sapphire crystal into mine and haven't looked back. Very versatile watch. I've taken it diving with rubber, but also looks good with leather on land. Rusty2801 16 Posted July 29, 2013 Black Monster - daily beater for me. Managed to steal it of my old man - Askit1. Orange is growing on me now though!
salokiN 0 Posted July 29, 2013 (edited) I got my sapphire crystal upgrades for all my Seiko's from him. A sapphire crystal is NOT an upgrade on a true diver's tool watch, they shatter so much easier than a Seiko Hardlex. I'm aware that sapphire crystals shatter easier compared to the Hardlex. But since I don't take them on dives anyway, I opted for the swap to sapphire. To me, that's an upgrade because now their more scratch hardy. The probability of my watches catching a scratch is much higher. A knock from my brother-in-law's U-Boat gave a nasty ass scratch across the face of my Seiko Spork, that's what prompted the switch. gB. 0 Posted July 29, 2013 The blue 100th anniversary limited edition one looks pretty sweet as well. Although I think it would have looked even better without the gold hands/crown...
Pharmo 33 Posted July 29, 2013 wow! didn't even know there was a green monster! Blue looks stunning
Jetpants 40 Posted July 29, 2013 I have both, and even though the orange is jap made while the black is made in Malaysia... i wear the black more. I like thast blue one, i like the gold hands, hours markers surrounds should be blue too, but agree, the gold crown is a bit out place.
gran 198 Posted July 29, 2013 The blue is no monster. its the posh version so no good.
jcglobal 0 Posted July 29, 2013 Why settle? Buy them both, and while you are at it order a gen 2 with the burnished orange or the bleeding red. Hour markers on the new ones are shaped like shark teeth, like on my Megladon. Nice.
Bash64 17 Posted July 30, 2013 Had the same debate. Ended up with black. My got-to movie theatre watch. Amazing lume.

rete 0 Posted July 30, 2013 I vote orange. I too picked up a first generation orange monster on a bracelet for ~$180 on Amazon several weeks ago. Nothing high-schoolish about it.
1littlegreen 1 Posted July 30, 2013 Orange....just isn't a Monster without it @gB.....put me on the buy list when you M2M the Blue above
cogwatch 1 Posted July 30, 2013 I have the 1st Generation orange and love it. But now I'm looking for the best deal on a 1st Generation black. I think both is the ONLY answer. There are 365 days in a year. Plenty of time for both!!! While looking for a deal on the 1st Generation black, I saw the below pic. I think it looks really good with the leather strap. What do you all think? Note, I think the new Dracula 2nd Generation would not look good at all on the strap. The pointy teeth just look too corny to me to meld with the leather. salokiN 0 Posted July 30, 2013 I think it looks really good with the leather strap. What do you all think? That's the Di-Modell Chronissimo. I have the short version and it's the most comfortable leather strap i've owned so far. It also handles water surprisingly well, i've been in the rain with it and no problems whatsoever!
