Video Unboxing of Aquaracer & Side by Side Size Comparisons + Photos.

Recommended Posts

SSTEEL

Not long back from the post office after collecting my first M2M watch purchase. I got it from a member next door, and as a C&R, its brand new, and still has the film on the clasp.

I always shoot a video whenever I unpack anything, because you never know what you may find, a brick, swapped out for a Mickey Mouse watch, and whatnot.

In this brief video unboxing, I compare the Aquaracer size against the Carrera, TC Sub, and Sub C.

This is the very latest Aquaracer with the correct, arrowed G of Tag, and also improved lume.

Photos will be added later highlighting this newer model key areas mentioned, and some additional eye candy as I know you love pics :).

It has some heft to it, but noticeably lighter than the Carrera. I will include a photo of the Aquaracer on the scales later.

Ok, heres the photos. I will add the loupe photo of the TAG logo later due to the time when I took these photos covered it, and I didn't want to alter the time as I'm currently checking its accuracy.

The Aquaracer is a completely brushed stainless steel watch with brushed case set, including display case back, and bracelet too. The bracelet is an engineering marvel.

It's scary how close to gen this is, with only a few tells, the most obvious being the pearl.

Weighing in at 190g exactly, its a heavy watch, but not too heavy, its lighter than my Carrera for example.

I have been contemplating weather to remove the cyclops or not, what do you think? There are two vertical lume strips, one either side of the date wheel, and these cannot be seen with the cyclops.

The fit and finish of this rep is outstanding, and very well finished, however, after wearing a genuine Carrera bracelet watch for sometime, I have been spoilt with the finish of the gen, and the rep bracelet of this Aquaracer is noticeably sharper edged, but something which can be self-finished later. I had to remove 1 and a half links to fit my 7.5" wrist.

Bezel is nice and solid, rotating clockwise with a nice, positive click each minute step.

The crown screws in, and out lovely and butterly smooth, with a noticeable long tube thread. Several full turns needed to screw the crown down. The crown logo is very accurate.

Date change was very positive with a nice flip over whilst turning the crown.

Unsure if the Helium crown is faux or not, but I will investigate this when I come to watch proof the Aquaracer.

Thats about it for now, oh, whilst I don't forget, here's a loupe photo of the correct, arrowed G of TAG on this latest model...

Had a few dm's asking where this watch was originally from. It was from a TD next door, Ryan. He don't have it on his website, but he can get it if you email him. Not dealt with Ryan myself, but have only heard positive things about him.

Update:

24 hours has past since I started monitoring the timekeeping of this Aquaracer. It has the Asian Clone movement, and its bang on, its not lost, or gained a single second in the last 24 hours. Impressed!

Ok, an update on those bezel screws. They are indeed adjustable, but at not retained by a thread, it appears they are restrained by the rubber-like bezel insert surrounding the screws.

I tried to unscrew the one screw which was off, but it simply just kept on turning, not unscrewing.

Here's a photo before..

Photo during adjustment, just kept turning, but retained itself with resistance from insert..

And finished result...

Yes, I know these changes are minor, but to me, with my OCD, they were huge, so had to correct them, and whilst doing so, I thought why not share my experience in this in case there are anyone else wanting to do the same :)

Its still not 100%, but its tolerable now.

Update # Timekeeping.

Its now been 48 hours since starting my timekeeping monitoring, and I am very happy to report, the Asian clone movement in this rep is outstanding thus far, its still not lost or gained a single second. Its spot on. :D

Update #Timekeeping (constant wear for 11 days).

Just thought I would update info for reference, I have been wearing this Aquaracer for 11 days straight now, and the timekeeping is bloody amazing, its still not lost or gained a second in the last 11 days!

Er Er ER Er Mmmmm - now i want one of these. Very nice but 190g is fairly hefty for a medium sized watch but then it shows its built well.

Good close up photos by the way, have you got new kit or been practicing?
