Replica Watch Dealers (OUT OF DATE)

Recommended Posts

greg_r

IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS POST IS OUT OF DATE AND HAS BEEN SUPERCEDED BY THE OFFICIAL TRUSTED DEALER LIST WHICH IS PINNED AT THE TOP OF THIS FORUM. PLEASE CHECK OUT THE DEALERS ON THAT LIST INSTEAD.

Every time a newbie joins up, we find ourselves answering the same questions:

1) Where can I buy a watch without getting ripped off?

2) Where can I get a strap/bracelet for my new rep?

3) Who sells the best sub? :)

I'm gonna ignore number 3 :) , and concentrate on the first two. There are an awful lot of replica watch dealers out there. Unfortunately over 90% of them are ripoff artists. Over the years, members of this and other boards have discovered a range of good dealers who can be trusted not only to supply a watch, but to supply it at the right price with decent customer service.

It seemed appropriate to put together a list of my preferred dealers - most of whom have decent websites and all of whom have given good service.

There are, of course, a lot of other good dealers out there and just because they're not featured here, doesn't mean that they're not recommended. Caveat Emptor. Be aware that this is MY preferred dealer list and not necessarily anyone else's  I don't guarantee that any of these dealers get it right 100% of the time, only that I am personally comfortable with purchasing from any of them. This is a work in progress and I'll be updating the post as and when necessary, so if there are any errors, please let me know.

A lazy man's guide to Replica Watch Dealers

Josh (Perfect Clones) http://www.jpc8118.com/

Web Site: Josh's site is the one that shows how it SHOULD be done. Wide range of watches, well presented with good photos of the actual watch and mostly accurate descriptions. Push the button, punch in your credit card number and you're done. Watch arrives a week later. Easy as falling off a bar stool.

Quality: Josh sells all the latest and greatest rep watches alongside a smaller amount of less-good stuff. Not a lot of real junk, though. He claims he doesn't drop-ship, but faults do slip through the net from time to time, so the verdict is still out on that one. However, his after-sales service is first class and he really looks after his customers. If you have a problem, he'll sort it out for you. He offers a 3 month warranty.

Delivery: If you live in the UK, your watch will be with you in 7 or 8 days on average. Josh is very, very quick despatching your watch.

Summary: Josh is number 1 for a reason. He's not perfect and I wish he'd do some QC on his watches, but generally you won't go far wrong with this guy - especially if you want your watch quickly.

Andrew (Trusty Time) http://www.tt88time.com/

Web Site: Andrew's site is very similar to Josh's (understandably since they are business partners). He lists a few watches that Josh doesn't and vice versa.

Some people find Josh a little easier to deal with, but otherwise there's little to choose between Josh and Andrew - both good dealers.

Ruby http://www.nicereplica.com/

Web Site: Ruby's site is also very well laid out, but doesn't show everything she can supply. Selecting a watch and hitting the checkout gives the usual moneygram and WU options + paypal (recommended for security). If you select paypal, Ruby will get back to you with a payment request via email. She charges a little extra for paypal, but it's probably worth it - she's generally cheaper than Josh anyhow, and delivery is either included (airmail) or $10 for EMS (which is $25 cheaper than Josh), so you'll still wind up ahead.

Quality: Ruby sells a wide range of the better reps. If there's something that you particularly want and you can't find it on her site, drop her an email and she may be able to find it for you - often at a lower price than Josh. She handles every watch she sells and will send you a photo of the actual watch you have purchased before despatch so that you can approve or reject it. This means fewer problems. If you want a Rolex datejust, then Ruby is the dealer for you - she can pull together any combination of dial, case, bracelet and movement that you could possibly require. After-sales service is good, and she offers a 6-month guarantee.

Delivery: About 2 weeks from despatch via airmail or a week via EMS. It can take quite a while to get to the despatch stage, however.

Summary: Ruby's very pleasant to deal with, and looks after her customers well. The only real downside is that she tends to be rather slow in each stage of the transaction - this can mean that it will be 3 or 4 weeks from order before you receive your watch. If you're not in a desperate hurry and want to buy one of the higher-quality reps, Ruby is an excellent choice of dealer.

EuroTimez: http://www.eurotimez.com

Web site: Chris's web site is fairly lousy. You need to fill in a contact form for payment instructions and the photos are stolen from other sites. Not a good first impression, but stick with it - the good stuff comes later.

Quality: Eurotimez concentrates on high-quality watches. They do their own sub, the "euromariner" which is one of the most accurate Rolex Submariner replicas available. They also supply MBK and a wide range of other high-end reps along with a modicum of less good cheaper stuff. Not much real junk, though, but there is some (in common with most dealers).

Delivery: depends on the method you choose and whether he has the watch in stock. Airmail is free. Other services vary.

Summary: The reason Eurotimez is on this list is twofold: Firstly they're based in the UK, so for a small extra charge can despatch the watch from the UK rather than from China - avoiding customs problems within the EU (a big issue for some countries such as Italy and Belgium). Secondly, they do extra QC on the watches they sell, resolving any issues before despatch so, in theory, the watch you get will be as good as it can be. The downside is that they tend to be a little more expensive than Josh & the others and the QC takes time, so you don't have the 'instant gratification' effect. Probably worth it if you're buying something expensive though - especially if you live in the EU. Chris is probably the only dealer that I've never heard a bad word about - he clearly cares about looking after his customers.

Lawrence: http://www.houseofsouvenirs.com

Web Site: Lawrence's web site isn't quite as well-planned as Josh or Ruby's but it does the job. His speciality is for the cheaper watches, for which his prices are generally very competitive. His upmarket watches can be a bit expensive, though (but not always). If looking at more expensive models you should also be aware that he doesn't always have the latest and best versions, so check before you buy. His checkout system is simple. Complete checkout and enter your paypal account email address. He will normally respond within a day with a payment request. He's also very responsive to questions, and if you ask him his opinion of a particular watch he'll give you the straight dope.

Quality: As I said above, Lawrence specialises in the cheaper watches and there are some real bargains to be had. There's some junk in there too, so it's best to double-check what you're buying before pulling the trigger. Like Josh and Ruby his photos are of the actual rep he is selling, so a quick comparison with other sites should give you the right idea. There are some up-market reps as well, but be careful - some of them are at higher than average prices. Every watch is handled before shipping, so damaged/DOA watches are rare. All come wrapped in a polishing cloth, which is handy. After sales service is excellent and he offers a 30-day warranty.

Delivery: Reliably 2 weeks to the UK via airmail (which is free). You can upgrade to EMS if you wish, but there is a charge.

Summary: Lawrence is a great dealer and the first I look at for cheaper reps - he's straightforward to deal with, very friendly and responds quickly to questions or problems. Very willing to track down unusual watches that he doesn't list. Especially good for cheaper reps.

Tonyxkf: http://www.watcheden.com

Web Site: Tony has several sites, but this is the latest and most up-to-date. He's been around for a long while and is known to be reliable - he also trades as WatchEden on RWI. His site offers watches as well as rep handbags, loads quickly and is easy to navigate. He accepts Visa/MC and his checkout works efficiently. He's a good source for less-common reps and you'll find models on his site that you won't find elsewhere. He also trades through his CQout shopfront at http://www.cqout.com/shopfront.asp?l=tonyxkf which is worth checking out as occasionally his CQout prices are lower.

Quality: Same as everyone else. Tony sells everything from high-end reps to junk, so take your time choosing the right watch. Do be aware, however, that Tony dropships, so your watch will not be checked before despatch. He's very responsive to questions, however, and offers a 6 month warranty on the watches he sells, but don't expect Josh or Eurotimez levels of aftercare.

Delivery: Tony is almost as fast as Josh (dependent on delivery method chosen). EMS to the UK usually takes a week.

Summary: Tony gets my business mainly for cheapies and stuff I can't find elsewhere. He's pleasant to deal with and worth a try if you're after something that Josh, Ruby, Eurotimez or Lawrence doesn't carry. He will sometimes offer very worthwhile discounts on certain models.

PWC - aka Time4Direct

Robert was and is a well-known wholesaler, but he's only recently started selling direct to the public. He can supply just about anything available, but also has access to a few watches that are hard or impossible to find elsewhere. He's a particularly good source for Panerai, and can even supply ready-modded versions. There's no website, but he regularly updates his listings on RWI and Repgeek. You can also mail him directly with details of what you're after and he'll get back to you with options and a price. After-sales service is excellent, and will also repair watches after expiry of the guarantee (on watches he has supplied). Very pleasant to deal with - one of my favourite dealers these days. Send general enquiries to: [email protected]

Accessories:

Just a small selection of suppliers that I use. Most of them EU based.

Straps:

BOB straps: http://www.waccex.de

Quality straps for Panerai and a range of other watches. Very high quality and not as expensive as some other sellers. Based in Germany

WatchbandCenter: http://www.watch-band-center.com/

German site selling a massive selection of straps, buckles and deployants of varying quality & price. They sell very wearable budget straps suitable for cheap reps as well as better quality branded straps. Usually my first port of call unless I'm after something exceptional.

StrapCulture: http://www.strapculture.com/

Beautiful straps for Panerai watches. If you want the best, you've found it. Prices are surprisingly reasonable for such high quality.

Watchboxes/Winders

AceTimer: http://www.acetimer.com/

US-based manufacturer of watch boxes, winders and other accessories. Prices are very competitive and quality is good. Even with the cost of shipping to the EU, it's often cheaper to buy from these guys and spend another $50 to get it shipped than to buy an equivalent over here. I have a couple of their watch boxes and they're beautiful. Worth checking out their eBay store too (user name acetimer)

Greg, what about Precious Time, www.ptswiss.com ?

Yep, I agree he needs to be on there. I started off with dealers with decent websites (PT's site is a waste of time), but I want to add some of the good forum dealers too. Just gotta find time to write it.

I think PWC, Narikaa, Mark Wang, Stan and maybe one or two others (yes, I'm thinking Neil) should be on there too. I'll get to it :)

If someone wants to write short reviews in the same style for some of the other dealers in the meantime, I'd be happy to add 'em
