houndoggie 58 Posted June 10, 2010 I'd definetly go for a Longine Legend diver:http://cgi.ebay.fr/Longines-Legend-Diver-A...=item2ead194354 http://cgi.ebay.fr/Longines-Legend-Diver-M...=item3ca83ee373 It's very close to the Jaeger Lecoultre Memovox tribute to Polaris but doesn't cost 30000$: I don't need 2!!! PatronSaintofChainsaws 1 Posted June 11, 2010 There is a nice homage of this for sale on Watchuseek for about $800 with ETA 2824. A bit overpriced. It looks like it was built off of one of the "Landeron" Super Compressor kits that the eBay dealer "Lucawatch" in France is selling: http://stores.ebay.com/Lucawatch ...specifically, this kit for the 2824: http://cgi.ebay.com/BOITIER-COMPRESOR-ETAN...2-/380190921476 I built my own off one one of the Miyota kits (which have a nicer dial and IMHO, better looking crown spacing), except I used a got fancy by splicing a black datewheel onto an DG2813, and went with dauphine hands like the early-style Polaris: While we're on the subject of JLC, have you considered a vintage jumbo Memovox? An automatic "bumper" movement with an alarm function is a very cool thing to have. You can find them under either the LeCoultre label (as marketed in the USA during that time period) or the JLC label for about the same price. Several different case/dial/hand/crown combinations are/were available too. The size might not work for you though, as the largest were about 38mm IIRC. I like yours better than the one for sale on WUS. I'll look into the vintage Memovox, but right now may be leaning towards a Doxa 5000t
Brightlight 0 Posted June 11, 2010 You could always pick up a second hand 21J Breitling rep in the member sales area over at RG for that money... Yes but at that price it would have been serviced and polished with a Cape Cod to the approved VDB methodology, and the price would include pp (bastards!! See Greg, I remembered) and shipping in conus, be fair!!
houndoggie 58 Posted June 12, 2010 Okay, I've decided for now. I am gonna get either a DOXA 5000t Caribbean or a Doxa 750t Caribbean Sea Hunter. Now I just need to wait til one pops up. (I just missed one of each in my delibration)
