sfa437 0 Posted June 11, 2010 So, to confirm, is the diameter the same as gen? The gen crystal is 4.9mm thick I think you're answering a different question LoL :( I was just wondering if HD could confirm the gen diameter as if it's the same then some case-modding (so the whole thing fits and doesn't protude) could see a gen one fit? Not going to go that nuts over a 185 USD rep
Member X 91 Posted June 11, 2010 lol Good point... ... although I bet someone will do it :(

sfa437 0 Posted June 11, 2010 Exploring a couple options here.... The 21j is solid (albeit mineral) which would keep this from happening again Taka on RWI might be persuaded to make a run of crystals if enough people ask.
KinCaidk 0 Posted June 12, 2010 bummer, mate. Toro can get you a new crystal. You might have to pay for it though.
sfa437 0 Posted June 12, 2010 I don't care who I have to beg, pay or fuck- I wanna new damn crystal I think the existing on would be fine if they were edge treated. Mine wasn't and I'm gonna run off the assumption a few others might not be as well.
GC 4,554 Posted June 12, 2010 35mm crystal how thick? Haven't popped it (press went AWOL) but it looks to be approx 1mm EDIT: Because I sounded like a dick with my stupid comment about "thank goodness I live in the desert..." First off sfa, I think this sucks mate! I know exactly how ya feel when something you really like turns sour and it just kind of spoils the whole feel good vibe. So again, I'm really sorry to read about your crystal. I know you'll get it resolved sooner than later, you have the connects & skillz, but the point is you shouldn't have to get anything resolved. Secondly thanks for making everyone aware of the problem, it's gonna save the average joe schmo like myself a lot of heartache. And lastly, sorry for coming across like I didn't give a rat ass with my initial post, it truly wasn't meant that way. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok...my stupid question for the day: Why would the factory/ies use two different materials to make a crystal that is 1mm in thickness? I could understand if it was 4mm or 5mm and they wanted to save money, but this has me really scratching my head. Anyway, thank goodness I live in the desert, because I ordered a PloProf from Mary. No worries here, keep me posted when the replacement crystals are available, thanks!

dickbrowne 0 Posted June 12, 2010 Why the *** would you expect it to be waterproof? Oh... Sorry to see that SFA - keep us posted on the progress, and the delamination. Reading through the thread gives me the same sort of feelings I get when I look at the chrome soap-rack in my shower which I paid a whack of cash for, and it rusted. I mean, who makes a shower soap rack and doesn't expect it to get wet? Who would build a Ploprof and expect you to keep it dry? Ooh, almost built up into a rant, sorry

trailboss99 997 Posted June 12, 2010 Can't help much with this one but I can add that laminated crystals are not as rare as you may think. Seiko do it all the time. that's what a hardlex is. Could it be a Seiko crystal of some sort they bought in bulk? Offshore may know. Col.
