Member X 91 Posted June 16, 2010 Fuck me, I can't believe how lucky I've been today. Rushing to a meeting, parked up, jumped out the car to pay for parking (£4!). CLANG!!!! SHIT, you fucking idiot, what have you done??? I looked down and realised I had literally battered my SOH crystal first into my steering wheel lock, perhaps right on the joint at the bottom that sticks out...: There was a scratch right across the crystal, looking like it had gouged out the AR Consequently, the whole meeting I was distracted, staring at it and feeling gutted and angry but with no-one to shout at but my clumsy dumbfuck self It was a couple of hours before I would get home after my meeting but I thought 'No, leave it till you have a soft spectacles cloth to try to see if it buffs out as otherwise you might make it worse' so I restrained myself from doing anything with it till I finally arrived home. Finally home, I set to work with the soft cloth and lots of breathing heavily onto the crystal to give the cloth some 'lubricant' in the form of condensation from my breath. I feared the worst - I thought I'd end up with a tidy but deep scratch in the AR that would forever bug me until I could afford a Chief AR run But, wait... What is this?? It can't be?! By some miracle, the AR had taken the paint off the metal steering wheel lock (which had deposited itself on the crystal to look like a scratch) but the AR and crystal were fine!! WTF?!?! So today I must thank the gods for being kind and letting my stupid, clumsy self get away with what looked like a very expensive accident B) And I must also thank the factory and Mary for delivering a watch that must truely be up to gen standards if it can survive that!! Overall a good result, and I now won't have to sulk all evening and annoy the missus LoL

Luthier 1 Posted June 16, 2010 Why you need this "DICKLOCK" in the first place? Nobody will try to steal your Hyundai anyway.
Member X 91 Posted June 16, 2010 lol You're probably right, but just in case...
trailboss99 996 Posted June 17, 2010 The "paint" on the lock is probably powder coat, not paint. This is considerably softer than a painted finish and that, my friend, is what saved you. Col.
Member X 91 Posted June 17, 2010 You may be right, thinking about it - it's similar in finish to some alloy wheels I had powdercoated... Either way, I'm counting my blessings!! lol
Ska 11 Posted June 17, 2010 mate fancy alloys aren't going to help you pull in a Hyundai!!!
