That sickening feeling......

;)

Received my new Tag Carrera day-date from Mary, with the 7750 on Thursday.

Stunning watch, beautiful detail, will post pics on the feedback site shortly.

Anyhow.... took the watch Friday to have it pressure tested.

Results looked encouraging, after 3 tests given the all clear (my friend

works at the local Mall watch repair so decided to test thoroughly).

This is during my lunch hour, quite pleased with the result, at the next set of traffic lights

pulled out the loupe and admired the detail of the dial.

I angled the watch to maximise on the sunlight glissening through.

Then shock horror!!!

In the bright light before my very eyes a fine mist of condensation started to appear

on the glass, assited by the heat of the sun.

On looking carefully at the movement, molecules of dredded H20 could just be seen.

Lucky I know a fanastic watchmaker who works sometimes from home.

Quick bee line to his house to show him my delemer.

He explained he has seen movements rust before his eyes, moisture in

the watch is that serious.

Quicker than Flash Gordon the watch was opened with movement out.

He confirmed the likely culpret was slight moisture down the pusher tube.

He also suggested the pressure/ dip in water test can show an incorrect result.

He always tests with a unit which pressurizes a chamber with the watch in it, whilst measuring minute

variations in the case back movement, any movement will confirm pressure entry, thus water can also enter.

Any how, I left the watch in his capable hands - in pieces which were placed under a lamp,

to be turned over during a minimum 5 hour period.

Watch will be ready Monday, thank God!!!!

And should be like new with gaskets greased etc.

Anyone had a similar un-nerving experience???

You friend at the mall needs to learn the correct procedure for a pressure test.

For water to enter a watch during a pressure test he has done something wrong.

A very unnerving experience on one of my pressure tests. My Subs generally get tested by removing the movement and lowering the watch case to the bottom of my pool and leaving it for 15 or 20 minutes.

Last time I did that I went back out to retrieve it and to my horror, the pool pump had come on and the vacuum pool cleaner had come on and sucked up my watch and had been dragging it around the bottom of the pool for God knows how long. So now I have a well vintaged crystal and bezel pearl with the cyclops ground down about 1/4 of the way. Luckily it wasn't an expensive Sub.

What a sight...KBH jumping into the pool frantically trying to save a watch...btw.. Never thought of this type of pressure testing..will give a try at the local kiddie pool away from the pool vac of course..

Isn't life grand, managed to drop my mobile phone in the toilet today, it's never happened before,

........ must have a thing with water at the moment!

Luckily managed to dry the phone with a dryer, all seems to be working ok.

Mine died.

Good lesson - never make call while you pee.
