1. why would they make such a fantastic watch and have Hardlex Glass and not sapphire?

 

Because this is a professional watch made for real work not posing and Hardlex is far tougher than sapphire.

They use hardlex because firstly this is a dive watch and while hardlex is more prone to scratches it's less likely to shatter.

 

 

And the HK M416 is best.

To each his own, if you like it then get it, I have two seiko monster's and I love them but that would probably be the price range for me, although I am looking at the newer srp models. Good luck on what you decide. It is a very nice watch though.

It's hand built, it has a greater depth rating, it has better accuracy, better lume, an easier to read dial, a far better bracelet, longer service intervals and it's 1/2 to 1/3 of the price. These things are so well made they don't have an HE valve because they don't need one.

That's an amazing looking watch. I say get it! My first "real" watch as an adult in 1986 was a Seiko dive watch. Still have it.
