hmm....interesting. There was a similar thread here ( http://www.rwg.bz/board/index.php?showtopic=1543 ) by a company called Mica, but i think this website you found has better looking models. I'm interested to know more as well. I second this thread, because enquiring minds want to know.

Hi DM and welcome!

Thanks for sharing. I've seen the Woody's offered by NFNT, but not these.

I'll mull this over a couple of days and probably buy a watch. Then perhaps I can let you all know what I think.

Ok, the FAQ on thier website sucks. I'm trying to find out something about the movements in the watches, specs, anything. This is as much as i could find "The Wood Watch collection is an incredible array of sought after handmade watches that consist of Sandalwood, Bamboo, and Maple woods, all indigenous to regions of China." so, probably chinese company, which is a red flag. Not a deal breaker. It's just a lot of dodgy stuff goes on in chinese commerce. Need more information.

.......

I really like their "Silver/Tan GST03". most of the watch is ... probably not silver, stainless steel im guessing, and just the bezel, dial, and the interior links of the two tone Wood/SS band are wood. Really white light wood. Looks like bamboo maybe.

.....

Gotta find out more.

So, it looks like we have some kind of hand wound or automatic movement here, according to this google translation from what is maybe Japanese? " [Gorgeous design comes up 2012 most new work is one of the charm from popular watch] has become a hand-wound clock ※ This. It is possible to wind up the spring in the position of (the middle part of the crown) MID. " and from amazon.co.jp via google translation " The product of this place can not be resized.". And " arm around face width × ■ 22.5 × 4.5-5 ". not sure if that is the measurements/ diameter of case or what.

Here are some better pictures and an explination (kind of) of what 22.5 x 4.5-5 means :

Back to do some more investigation.

Bentley - given the price, and given the amount of labour involved in making these, I don't for one second expect a Swiss 6497/6498.

It might sound incredibly blasphemous to you, but maybe the guy is much more interested in wood than watch movements.

I also wonder how little thought he puts into the glass for his sunglasses.

By the way, some of the sunglasses look awesome.

Not a huge fan of quartz (call me old fashioined) so maybe i'll wait till they come out with some automatic models. And maybe by then they'll have improved upon their ceramic/wood two tone model. its got potential but its not quite there yet.

Well, I guess there's always Silvana :)

As long as were talking about wooden watches, check these out. Absolutely Incredible. Works of art.

They're prices are also Absolutely ridiculous (for me anyways. I guess some of us can afford to spend $100,000+ on a watch but its not me). taking out a mortgage to pay for a watch is not something im about to do...not yet anyway :)
