greg_r 83 Posted June 29, 2010 Just picked up this cheapie via a friend who's in China at the moment. I've always loved the Rolex day/date models - I wore a DD rep as my only watch for several years (in fact it was the death of that watch that got me back into reps). However, my tastes have diversified into larger watches and I now find the traditional DD or DJ at 37mm feels a bit small. I've been meaning to pick up a DDII for some time, but never quite seemed to get around to it until now. My pal sent me a photo of this along with some other watches he'd been offered and I couldn't resist - especially as I've always had a weakness for blue dials. The watch has a 21J movement but has a sapphire crystal and generally feels rather better made than one would expect for a cheapie. I'm toying with the idea of switching the bracelet for a blue leather band at some point before too long. Overall, I'm very pleased - the watch wears big for 41mm, feeling about the same size as my Astbury Skeleton (which is 43). I can see myself buying a couple more of these (or possibly a DJII) before long. Here's the only pic I've got as yet - I'll try to take some more in due course... Luthier 1 Posted June 29, 2010 Great watch, Greg!!! Looks great on bracelet. Is it really blue dial?
GC 4,517 Posted June 29, 2010 Ohhhhh...I like that alot!!! Not to mention it's also one of your best pics! Enjoy it often G!
greg_r 83 Posted June 29, 2010 Yup - it's a silvery blue. Very attractive. A marginally richer blue than appears in the photo - that was just a quick snap taken at my desk and the lighting isn't too great...

Member X 91 Posted June 29, 2010 Is that dark blue on light blue? Very nice I do like these but, for me, I prefer the DJ's cleaner dial - that and the fact I couldn't pull off a DD lol (says he, with a blue cerachrome sub that's about $18k in real life LoL)
greg_r 83 Posted June 29, 2010 Is that dark blue on light blue? Yep Very nice I do like these but, for me, I prefer the DJ's cleaner dial - that and the fact I couldn't pull off a DD lol (says he, with a blue cerachrome sub that's about $18k in real life LoL) lol - I've always had a thing for the DD. I like the DJ too, but the DD is the one that really yanks my chain
Member X 91 Posted June 29, 2010 Just a bit 'fussy' for me - I like my watches simple and clean, like my women LoL
Luthier 1 Posted June 29, 2010 Greg, how is the feeling of modern bald bezel? I'm kinda more traditional, if it's DD or DJ - must be fluted. Oh, old I am...
greg_r 83 Posted June 29, 2010 I like 'em both. I thought the smooth bezel rather suited the modern-looking dial of this one, but if I was going for one of the more traditional dials, I'd probably want the fluted one too.
mykeos 0 Posted April 12, 2012 Not long ago I bought a DayDate from Mary for my grandad and noticed that the clasp is very (and I mean very) stiff. Is this normal for a rep and if yes, does it get better with regular use?thanks in advance!

intlcgr 0 Posted January 22, 2013 I just received this same watch from Timeshop. The quality of the watch is great. I took 2 links out of the band, and it closed nicely the first time I wore it. Now, the Rolex crown on the band is loose. Is this normal for a Presidential band, or is there a way to tighten the snap so the crown is not loose? The band still snaps closed firmly, but the crown moves around to much and I am worried I will catch it on whatever.
