KinCaidk 0 Posted June 29, 2010 Hi Guys, So - another question from the watchbreaking wizard. I am almost finished with my 1680-project: But I think the makers are too yellow. could i apply some bleach with a Q-tip and try to lighten up the markers?? KBH 7 Posted June 29, 2010 I have no idea but I thought of doing the same thing on my 1665 and got too nervous. What if it starts to lift the lume powder? Too bad you don't have an old dial to try it on.

KBH 7 Posted June 29, 2010 Cool! Can't wait to see the results. Keep a cup of water close by if it starts to go bad. Why not bleach the whole dial for that really vintage look?

Brightlight 0 Posted June 29, 2010 You could be onto something here Kink! Bleaching the markers could add $100 - $150 to the value of the watch on RG

sconehead 5 Posted June 29, 2010 ...borrow one of Joeys denture cleaning tablets... ...they are a very mild bleach, ideal for this type of thing and for cleaning grubby fingerprints off glossy dials as well...

KBH 7 Posted June 30, 2010 Kinky, One thing to remember is that bleach will corrode the movement in a hurry. Make sure you have it all cleaned off before you put it together. I tried bleach on a dial and a couple of months later found rust forming on the movement.
