Maranez Layan

Last week Maranez had the Layan available again for a limited time (they sold out in 2 days). They had black, red, blue and green dials. I ordered a green one.

Here are the specs...

Model: Maranez Layan

Movement: Miyota 8215 automatic

Case: 43mm wide excluding the crown - lug tip to lug tip 53mm - height 14mm - weight on leather strap 135g

Case material: Brushed Brass (Copper 64% and Zinc 36%)

Case back: Screw down stainless steel with individual serial number

Crown: Screw down stainless steel crown 8mm with 3 gaskets

Crystal: Sapphire (single domed), inner AR coating

Dial: Black, green, red or blue, markers with Super Luminova C3

Water-resistance: 300m/1000ft

Strap: 2 different straps

Buckle: Brass on the rubber strap - stainless steel on the leather Nato

I like the mini fiddy style case with no CG and the brass goes well with the simple green california dial. Timing seems spot on so far but it's hard to tell with no second hand :P

The rubber strap is 24mm and 22mm at the buckle. I want to be able to use some of my extra straps so I'm half way through making my own 24mm brass buckle at work. I'll post a picture when it's done if it works out.

Here are some shots of the watch...

Thanks :)

I was thinking of doing the egg treatment to speed up the patina but I think I'll let it develop on its own.

Anyone looking for one...

But, imo the green looks the best! Nice pick up

I liked the green best too.

I just saw that Armida has a 42mm brass milsub available if people want to try out the bronze/brass thing. Seems like a great deal at $350 and might be my next purchase :)

I just got an email that these are available to buy from Maranez again. If anybody wants one you should probably order soon because last time they sold in about 3 days. They also have the Racha back in stock with a new dial...

Red and brown look good

Mu files are itching to see what could be done with that case...

Would be interesting to reshape one of those

That would be cool!

I just noticed that the movement has been upgraded from the 8215 to the nh35 and that it now comes with 3 straps instead of two. Looks like a better deal than when I ordered :(
