Bit small for that - but an option for those with little girly wrists, I guess :D

Oh my...that does look great :yoda:

What a difference it makes that the case has no crown guard,

it looks much sleeker and thinner than a fiddy case...I like it!

Thanks silver - it's surprising how much smaller it wears just because of that crown guard...

Allegedly, only six of these were built by Rolex. The story is that when Rolex stopped making watches for Panerai back in 1954, they had some Radiomir Small Egiziano 6154 cases left in stock, so they decided to produce these watches. The design is interesting, looking almost like a 5513 Sub dial had been stretched to fit the larger case...

Whether this story is actually true is dubious - some experts have claimed that the provenance of the watch is highly questionable as it was virtually undocumented before its first appearance at Antiquorum.

As it turns out, it was documented prior to that. Unfortunately, in a way that would make them less likely to be authentic. Take a look...one of them appeared dead-center of the Garibaldi ship back in 2004 (beside what appears to be a PVD GPF 2/56):

...allegedly, most of the watches pictured were either customized gens or fantasy pieces assumed to have been partially built out of surplus gen parts.

This doesn't change the fact that these Rollie 6154s are frickin' cool looking. I'm building my own rendition right now too.

Interesting pic - hadn't seen that one before.

And yeah, I don't care whether it's a fantasy or not - it's the coolest-looking watch I own

Dunno what his current price is, Ding, but expect something in the region of $300 to $340. Might be a bit less - seems to fluctuate a bit.

You'll find it in his photobucket, or just email him with a photo of mine and tell him that's what you want.

Well based on your advice greg, it may be best that I settle for the alternative engine. Still this was the first thread that made me go... Rolex,Panerai, vintage all in one watch...it still stirs me today!

What a beauty!
