greg_r 85 Posted July 2, 2010 As in Frankenstein... Made from various disparate parts. Added to the watch glossary in the repair/reference section.

KBH 7 Posted July 2, 2010 There has been a few posts on different forums about what constitutes a true "franken". I guess there's no real definition but the more genuine parts you put on , the more "franken" it becomes. My personal opinion is a franken needs to have, at minimum, a genuine case and dial. A watch that can't be told from genuine without opening it up. I've seen some alleged frankens for sale because somebody installed a gen crystal on a Datejust, or a gen crown on a Sub. So totally wrong!

Member X 91 Posted July 3, 2010 Technically speaking, we shouldn't call them Frankens - it was Dr Frankenstein that created the new life out of spare body parts and named it something I now can't remember, it was not the creature that was called Frankenstein! The creature was Frankenstein's monster, so it still works
