I was messing around with my camera today. Obviously these are low light, but I thought some of these turned out pretty cool. Let me know what you think.

do you mind me asking what were the settings for taking these pics? I recently bought a Canon 400D and im learning a bit. Im thinking of buying one of the macro lens adapters, do you think they are worthy?

here is a thread that I opened with few pics I took the same day I got the camera

Thank you guys very much for the kind words! I'm doing much of the same and just trying different things every time if have a free moment which is less and less now a days(3 kids and 1 on the way). If I'm shooting for M2M, I typically use the macro standard with flash, but when I'm goofing off, I'm grabbing lamps around the house to play with the lighting and adjusting the aperture on manual w no flash. I would suggest getting a photo box as I find being able to adjust lighting can have more of an effect than camera settings. Here is my set up, pardon the mess, as I'm trying to find a canon pinion and hand set for a 44mm 372 project I'm fiddling with. my4y5e2a.jpg

I got a 2' X 2' which may be too big for just watch photos, but I'm using it more and more as a work space when I'm busy trying not to destroy my watches ;-)

These photos were taken with a 50mm lens with a wide angle lens attachment. The 50 is interesting for macro shots as it has a drastic focus points that can be fun and frustrating. Standard stock 35-80mm lens is probably better most of the time.

I took 50 photos during this take but this aperture is pretty close and the rest was adjustment of light sources. Most results were shit.

I hope this helps and other members who actually know there stuff chime in.

I thought your first set of shots looked great! Looking forward to seeing your next photos.

Yes, absolutely, thanks for your help and information buddy, so I see you use the macro lens adapter as well, now I'm going to get my self one, I was about to buy one but thought they were crap

And I see that a light tent is also a must, so might as well

The only difference I think it helps is it allows you to get more in the frame when getting so close to the watch. It also helps protect your better lens when you don't have the cap on :-)

Great shots!

thanks!
