TxRub779 1 Posted November 30, 2013 The Rockin K Ranch today Precambrian rocks, more than 600 million years old, are exposed at the surface in the Llano Uplift of Central Texas and in scattered outcrops in West Texas, around and north of Van Horn and near El Paso. My son Chris and I were target shooting his 30/30 Winchester here at The Rockin K Ranch est. 1965 earlier today. I have been shooting guns at this middle tank for 35 years and I have found 100's of pounds of limestone fossils, mostly amonite but today in a crop of rocks that were piled up from when the tank was dug in 1965 I looked down as saw this fossil. Petrified scallop shell....right in the open pile. Way cool Share this post Link to post
gartfield 0 Posted November 30, 2013 That's sweet Rob. Great find. Around here it's arrowheads. A lot of native american battles took place around where I live. I have found many over the years just after we plow in the spring. Cool find Share this post Link to post

TxRub779 1 Posted November 30, 2013 I have never found an arrow head here but never really looked looked, This parts of Texas was in the south western FtWorth area Caddo and Ft.Worth north The Comanche indians. The river that the city/county seat Cleburne Texas formerly civil war Camp Henderson was built around, The Nolan River splits, our ranch's 110 acres down the middle. My grand daddy called it, "the creek" lol. I have found lots of shit around it but no arrow heads. That's sweet Rob. Great find. Around here it's arrowheads.
