DR3M3L 4 Posted June 12, 2014 3000grit?! Why bother? I usually go to the buffer after 1200 or 2000. Go atleast above the 2000, I use 2400 and 3000 as a finish Gives a great result. Ending with 1500 always leaves a less result for me...
SSTEEL 0 Posted June 13, 2014 Latest order in from Cousins. This time its mainly all about packaging, and the way I package things when shipping back to my customers. I also package in such a way that the package is waterproof, tamperproof, and air tight. Untitled by Micky.!, on Flickr In the photo are various bag sizes, boxes, Gorilla superglue, and some dial feet, and dial strips

SSTEEL 0 Posted June 18, 2014 I still am yet to find a suitable 5 diopter. Anyway, my drawers arrived Not ideal internal compartments, but will do for now until I have time to do some modifications The plastic trays contents will eventually reside in the drawers too, plus the red, and grey ones on top of the drawers will eventually go under the bench in some other drawers when I get them. SSTEEL 0 Posted June 19, 2014 As you know Steve, I use an Optivisor, but have been contemplating a mag lamp for quite a while now, and a stereo microscope.
SSTEEL 0 Posted July 10, 2014 Latest small order arrived from cousinsuk.. Untitled by Micky.!, on Flickr Some rolls of 8mm protection tape, thanks to our resident UK watchmaker, KK, Steve for the heads up on this. Also got some red crystal gaskets, some of these are a perfect fit for replacing the bezel retainer on the ceramic GMT Master II models. The small yellow envelope you can see to the top left of the above photo is a crystal that just come back from Guru on our Sister site, RWI, he was organising a AP Crystal AR round. This will be fitted to my AP Diver And finally, I have been doing more and more custom work with various hands, including genuine Rolex hands on customers frankens, and found myself struggling to accurately measuring the tubes, so invested in the gauge tool from Bergeon below.. Kcore 0 Posted July 10, 2014 Great stuff Micky! At the chance of sounding like a pervert, I really enjoyed the opportunity looking in your drawers - That hand gauge is tops. I struggled trying to use my caliper to measure pinion tubes to replace a few hands. I wish I had one of those gauges.
SSTEEL 0 Posted July 10, 2014 :P Otto should sell them Eric mate, less that $50 they should be.
DR3M3L 4 Posted July 10, 2014 That gauge tool will make your life so much easier!! It was one of the first tools I bought as a result of ordering the wrong hand size twice and then got angry... Bought the same one you got and use it a lot!
SSTEEL 0 Posted July 10, 2014 Likewise Joran, had problems finding the correct hands for a Yuki 3135 recently for a customer, and even though he purchased what was advertised as hands for a genuine Rolex Calibre 3135, the purchased hands still wouldn't fit. 10:10 Watch Repair 1 Posted July 10, 2014 Likewise Joran, had problems finding the correct hands for a Yuki 3135 recently for a customer, and even though he purchased what was advertised as hands for a genuine Rolex Calibre 3135, the purchased hands still wouldn't fit. Bad seller I guess? Only the hour and minute hand are the same between A3135 and Rolex 3135 Even then, it varies.
SSTEEL 0 Posted July 11, 2014 I tried these hands from WSO advertised for a Rolex 3135, and they would not fit a A3135, or a Y3135.
