Ska 11 Posted July 19, 2010 just back on topic for a brief second, I recently bought an LV Sub for a friend of mine which I actually only gave him yesterday (he knows its a rep but is a collector like me and has a few gens.) He e-mailed me this afternoon saying that just today he'd been asked by no less than three people if they could see his 'fake' Rolex. Now he's 6 foot 4, drives a Range Rover and pretty confident to boot. Every time he just takes it off and hands over with a casual "Not a fake mate." Without fail each person spent at least 30 seconds admiring the LV from every angle before handing it back with the obligatory "Wow, its beautiful, how much did that set you back?" The only comment was that it is rather light (obviously people expect a watch worth thousands of dollars to be heavy as hell like an Omega. My friend shrugged most of it off but then went home and weighed the sub on a pair of calibrated scales to find that it weighs in at 136g. Genuine Subs weigh between 135g and 138g depending on the model and clasp so that puts the Noob right in the sweet spot!! Older cheap reps used to weigh in at around 180g - a surefire tell.
