jizza24 0 Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) I've decided on adding my contribution to the Seiko section and i think its about time. I have had this Seiko 5 for quite some time, approximately 25years it was my Grandfather's watch and according to the serial number was produced in February 1983 thats older than me. Plans for the watch would be Relume New Crystal New Strap Service what i did today was give it a nice buff and swapped the strap from my Seiko chronograph but is 2mm to big, I'd like to get some opinions so fire away. Original Strap Some 30yrs of built up sweat....sis Getting there... Strap Swap The rest are pics with the strap swap after some light buffing and cleaning... Would like to hear what you guys think especially about the strap options. Edited December 29, 2013 by jizza24

jizza24 0 Posted December 29, 2013 Thanks guys for the responses . Today i finished the buffing and polishing properly and i'm super impressed for a first attempt at a restoration thus far. i sanded the watch down with 1200 grit sand paper and machine buffed the sides to a mirror finish using a Dremel polishing compound and some good old Silva to remove misting. The top face of the housing is a brushed finish but i decided on mirror buffing this as well as it would better suit the look i'm hoping to achieve. Now that the case has been completed i need to find a crystal the current crystal is rather scratched and has a nasty chip/crack at 1'o clock. but that will be updated later, here are some pics of the case in a full mirror finish.
