MDK 0 Posted December 29, 2013 As anybody got experience with sellers not on the trusted list , or am i better to avoid them. I have found a couple of lacroix masterpiece skeletons on US sites, but they seem too cheap to me. Around $120 and not a quartz movement
Monty010 1 Posted December 30, 2013 Our dealers are trusted for a reason. Well more then one actually. So stick with them. Or you can kiss your cash goodby me thinks.
Scompx1 0 Posted December 30, 2013 Why even bother with sellers not on the TD list?
James. 4 Posted December 30, 2013 There are many dealers not on the TD list that are perfectly fine to buy from. Buying from a TD only affords members the mod recourse, however many, many members have purchased from mon-TD dealers will success. Just because a dealer is not a TD does not mean they're scammers. -edit- I should also add that buy from a non-TD at your own peril. At least do some research into the dealer 1st, most peeple buy from non-TDs for specialist watches or parts. If you're just after a regular rep all dealers can get their hands on it. Don't be tempted by cheap prices, if a TD can't get the watch, most of the time, it's not repped. caveat emptor and use the rule of purchasing items on the internet, if it seems too good to be true... flyr 4 Posted December 30, 2013 I will just say that buying from a TD gives you a better chance of getting what you pay for(there are lots of reviews from real buyers) The problem with non TD's(not on any rep forums) is ,can you believe their claims, and are their reported feedback true or staged? It's your money, good luck!
fortman 0 Posted December 30, 2013 Not this again... Your re-use of that old half face palm avatar says it all to me semaj.!
ShovelnTC 31 Posted December 30, 2013 Just send a pic of the watch you are after to one of the TD's and they may well be able to source it for you.

Perfectly fine to discuss the success or failure of non-TD experiences, especially if they are TD's on another forum, given most members would also be part of the other forum as well. The more discussion, hopefully, the fewer members are scammed. If you bought from a reputable non-TD, post the experience, if things turned sour, post the experience again so hopefully no other members suffer the same fate Trevor, Sead, PT, Tony etc are all TDs on other sites, though they are fantastic and I've never had a negative experience. greg_r 84 Posted December 30, 2013 Just bear in mind that a lot of scam sites list watches that are not actually repped (you'll end up paying for an empty box or whatever piece of junk they feel like shipping). As a general rule if a watch is available (and of reasonably sensible quality) one of our dealers should be able to source it for you.
black263 228 Posted December 30, 2013 The dealers In every section of internet can be broken down into three categories. 1. Definite scams. These have been proven by a number of reports to fail to deliver a fair product, or in some cases anything at all. 2. Definitely trustworthy. Again, proven time after time to deliver what has been ordered and to deal fairly with any problems. 3. The vast majority. These fill the entire spectrum between #1 and #2. Some at the lower end eventually end up as category 1. Some at the higher end may end up as category 2. Sadly, there is no guaranteed way to choose a category 3 and know what service you will receive. You may be fine;you may not. It is only by making a purchase that you will find out. I'm a coward. I'm not prepared to take the risk on category 3, because of my inherent caution. So I remove the risk by sticking only to category 2 purchases. On ebay that means lots of postives, and VERY few negative feedback. On Amazon, it means going by the ratings, and ignoring anything less than a 4*. On Which it means going for the perhaps more expensive best buy. On watches it means choosing a forum and their TD. You may be prepared to take a punt on an unknown, but why bother, when you have the certainty of a TD, with the backing of the RWG staff. (and if it's because the other site can provide a watch that the TDs can't, you have to ask why the best dealers around say that they can't get the product, but an unknown insignificant dealer magically can)

Really like Ryan ... Intime watches.....on RWI.... good service......good communication...... good watches.....would be great to see him as a TD here as well.... Here for me... it´s Andrew TT and Toro...... all the same as above.....

black263 228 Posted December 30, 2013 Between RWG and RWI there are more TDs than you would ever need. Join both, and get the top cover from both sets of moderators.
JSJ 0 Posted December 30, 2013 I have bought from sites which are non-TDs here or on RWI. That was before I found this site. There are a couple I would use again and have been absolutely fine. I've also bought from street and shop sellers in those places in the world where that is possible. Every one of those watches was a cheapie (say less than $100 and mostly much less than that). I wouldn't risk $100 upwards, especially from people who are unknown. If (and it's a big if) you found someone offering cheaper than the TDs (who also vary slightly in price anyway), then there is a reason. Most likely they are crooks. So you are really gambling for a few $. Or if it's really, really cheap, then it is too good to be true. Might as well get the cash out of the bank and set fire to it. At least you will know where it went. Like ^^^ say, what is the point?
