Olly 0 Posted January 23, 2014 I cant imagine the price of this thing if they are dragging it out like this ! $800 + my bet ! If so they can keep it for me
Pseudonym 0 Posted January 23, 2014 Excellent.Hopefully it isn't $1000 US. Likely to be in the same region as the FC 44 ROO. ~$
ANDMAN.ELLIPSIS 0 Posted January 23, 2014 it's the same maker as the FC44 and the Diver V3, J12 channel fac..... so the release price will for sure be a very clear indication of where prices from them are going. I would love a BB but if this any more than late $500's range.... they can keep it....I have plenty more than enough 42's...
mattstone83 0 Posted January 23, 2014 why are AP so much more expensive than other reps? Are they more intensive to copy, build or manufacture?
ANDMAN.ELLIPSIS 0 Posted January 23, 2014 why are AP so much more expensive than other reps? Are they more intensive to copy, build or manufacture? I couldn't answer the technical side..... It does seem that the AP prices are high ,on the basis there are other super reps with similar movements are available cheaper. Having said that.... when you put a gen ROO next to some Rep ROO's the quality and likeness it absolutely amazing and I guess that in some ways justifies the high asking price. Not that the RRP should have any bearing on the rep price... Then again for something so accurate at 1–2% of Gen it clearly has it's appeal(to AP lovers)
James. 4 Posted January 23, 2014 why are AP so much more expensive than other reps? Are they more intensive to copy, build or manufacture? A few reasons; - The movement is more expensive because it's a chrono - The movement also has to be modded to give the correct configuration, extra time & labour = $ - The higher cost for the factory to buy the gen to tear down and replicate is factored into the price, they need to re-coup the outlay - A few current models have more expensive materials, forged carbon etc - They generally have more components to assemble and take longer, bezel screws etc = more time (see point 2) than a stock standard PAM - Because they can charge out the arse and people will generally still pay for it. Not feeling the love James? No, I have lots of love having owned 6 at one point, these are just the facts explaining why AP's and ROOs especially cost more than normal reps.
