Thanks Greg, nice work!! Has you seen any improvement on the movement quality over time or it's still valid since you made your assestment?

The post is regularly updated. If you'll read to the bottom, you'll see that it was last updated in March of this year.

Hi

A few years ago my brother received a Rolex submariner replica.

He’s been using it and he says it’s very accurate and he want’s to know what type of movement has.

I’m using the watch a couple week and my impressions are:

. Bezel accurate with 120 clicks

. Seems to be made of quality material – ceramic?

. Cyclops with 2,5 times magnifier. Or something closer to that

. good material case

. the crystal is scratch proof. All the tests made I can say it’s Safire

. The date changes exactly at midnight

. waterproof – I don’t know how deep it can go but submerged in water for 12 hours no problem

. it loses about 2 sec per day

. All marks and stamps are like the original.

So I opened it to check the movement but it has no marks or brand manufacturer.

Can Someone help looking at the pictures I send?

Thanks

The thing about a 21J movement is that it can be like a lottery ticket. There are thousands and thousands produced and a massive spread in accuracy. Let's say the accuracy ranges from +1 min per day to -1min per day. With the thousands produced, statistically some will be absolutely accurate. Win the lottery and you get one of these. Looks like you got reasonably close.

What can be told about this ?

The genuine 2892 is a workhorse. Is the copy this good ?

Did a couple of services on it (my LW The One and a spare movement bought M2M).

It is in pair of the good a2836/a2824. Only SeaGull does it and that's a guarantee (SeaGull in my view are the best Chinese movements around).

Great post! Just wondering, would be the best movement that will not need a service for a long time? I'm thinking that the Miyota 9015 would be the best.

Always keep jewels and movements separate.  Once you get movement on your jewels, you need a long shower and deodorant to get back to normal.

Another great informative guide. Are the SA3135 movements still considered unreliable. Some post have indicated that they may have fixed the problem.

They're better than they were, but still less reliable than the regular clone ETAs and can be a problem to service.

It’s the parts that are difficult/impossible  to get for the 3135

Could it be that the parts are difficult/impossible to get for the 3135.

I've read somewhere, don't remember where but anyway that in fact, it appears that the thing is that..... the parts are difficult/impossible to get for the 3135

It seems obvious to me that, if you're going to make, say, 1000 illegal movements, you'll buy 1000  mainsprings, 1000 of each cog, and so on.  You then use it all up making movements.  You don't order in a stock of spare parts to hold for your non-existent after-sales.

Hello guys, I hope this is the right discussion area because I desperately need some help on my new purchase. I recently bought a Submariner vintage 1680 with A2836 movement. For the last of couple of days, on few occasions I have been noticing that while I change the date makes the hour hand shake, does not happen every time though and also the crown slips once in a while when setting the time or winding the watch if it requires. I sent email to the TD and he is more than happy to help me by sending it to the factory to be checked since I am from Canada and wondering if these really are the defects that need to be fixed and I should take the hassle of shipping it back to them or perhaps it's totally normal and is a known issue with this watch or the movement. Your kind advice would be highly appreciated.

Thanks.
