Strange bezel issue

Recommended Posts

mattstone83

Hi Gents,

Hoping someone out there has had a similar problem to me and can offer up an easy fix, I have a Tudor with uni directional rotating bezel that now the outer part spins and the inner insert (numbers ect) does not spin.

The only reason that it's annoying me is that the pearl and 12 marker is stuck at 9'ish, had it been stuck at 12 I wouldn't really care at all :(

Do I need to remove the bezel have a look and try to piece it back together, I'm not really sure how the bezel mechanism actually functions and may do more damage than good.

Sounds like the bezel insert is possibly binding on the retainer, thus allowing the bezel ring to turn, and not the insert.

thanks Ssteel, worth prying apart and reassembling myself? Ie. not a massive fix? :)

ok, its a simple no click mech. basically a large bearing with a rubber lining that 'locks' it in place, also the marker insert wasn't glued enough and fell off when removed. Shoo glue to the rescue :) thinks its sorted now all glued in place.

hahah, I was on my way to the convent watch in hand too :)

Thanks for the encouragement guys, its a cheap beater on nato so the functionally of the bezel isn't a major concern :)

End result -

Well done my friend. Hope you ensured to only glue the bezel ring lip where the insert normally clicks in?

With my clumsy fingers I'm just glad my hand isn't stuck to my face :help3:

Need to do this myself - what is the best tool to pry off the bezel and not damage it?

I used a butter knife with elec. tape surrounding the tip, worked really well. Just pry slowly

Thanks for the tip - I'll be working on mine this evening. Bezel is pretty rough when turning so I'm going to see if I can get it working properly.
