epalanb 1 Posted April 8, 2017 Came across this one on eBay. No clean up on it yet, pics of it are just as received. Since I am easily amused but looking a the movement this was perfect with a hinged case back that easily opens with no tools. Details as follows: 1910 ELGIN 15 JEWEL SIZE 12 Blue Hands GOLD FILLED OPEN FACE POCKET WATCH SERIAL NUMBER 15491600 WEIGHT 59.9 GRAMS Case 45mm Serial Number Quanty Year grade size code jewels Adj/reg/etc. -------------- -------- ------ ---- ---- ----- ---- ------ ------ ------------ 15491600 1000 1910 315 12s o3n3p 15j e Beautiful movement! I have several elgins that are similar. I am wondering if anyone knows what is the best source to learn how to convert a pocket watch like this into a wrist watch? I know there are issues with the american vs Swiss & the stem and all that, but at the same time I know it has been done so I know it can be done again. Hopefully by me... epalanb 1 Posted April 10, 2017 (edited) I've done a few conversions of Walthams, Elgins and Illinois Have a look here: http://www.rwg.bz/board/index.php?showtopic=110817 and http://www.rwg.bz/board/index.php?showtopic=108907 Thanks for the links! I will check RWI when it is back up (who knows on that one) and as far as anything on the homage forum I have been trying to register there for ages. It seems as though that is where the best set of searchable info on this type of thing would be. One of the mods told me that their registration issues have been resolved, but they have not. When someone sends me a link or I click on a link I can't even access that page without being registered. That forum is pretty much useless to me unless I can somehow figure out how to get registered. btw, That Elgin conversion looks way cool! Xpletiv 16 Posted April 10, 2017 Um, I think you half a screw head floating around there. Nice piece, though. Rockford ain't too far from me, I wonder where they were exactly?

griffon22 44 Posted April 11, 2017 Um, I think you half a screw head floating around there. Nice piece, though. Rockford ain't too far from me, I wonder where they were exactly? Nope, no loose bits in there. if you are reffering to the piece of metel shaped like half a screw, on the balance bridge, its actually inset in the bridge and is the attachement post for the breguet balance spring. the watch is 130-ish years old and still runs pretty well, though its idle ATM as I plan a full clean and service soon. its one of only 500 of that model , with a patented micrometer adjustment that was way ahead of its time.
