Thank you for looking !

Lovely and similar to Amy's. Yes it's early 20th not 19th century.

My daughters watch I mean. It's also smaller at around32mm case.

Thank you gents. :)

These are the watches I am learning on. I have looked at and studied movements, but it is all book learning.

That can only take me so far. I have had the good fortune here at RWG to know some incredibly knowledgeable gents...true horologists. When I have had questions I couldn't find the answer to on my own, I would ask. I try to find the answers myself, but if I can't, I know the people to ask. Sometimes, I make guesses. I try to make educated guesses, but would rather know for sure. The members here have been very generous in helping me advance in my understanding and appreciation of watches. I love the watches...gens, reps, antiques, vintage, PWs and even some clocks. I will always be a noob, but that is ok. Learning new things is a passion in life and I will continue studying and have more hands on experience as I progress.

I have remained fascinated these past years here at RWG and received lots of great information and learned so much. This was most unexpected. I have intended the past four winters to play more international chess and learn to write Mandarin. The watches just keep calling to me. These are the Sirens in my life.

I hope others will post their PWs in this thread and even more antique and vintage watches.

You know you have them. :)

I will post more too, but spread them out so this thread will get bumped more. This way, those interested will be able to see some of these treasures many of you keep locked away and only admire privately.

Please share with all of us.

Thank you for your kind comments, and I hope to see some of the watches you have in your collections.

:)

That is Hou Yifan one of the world's youngest international female chess champions.

I am a "B" rated (sub-2000) player. She is far out of my league.

Richard, I think you can play her under an assumed name on chess.com

Nothing like getting your head handed to you across the board by a 15 year old. :giggle:

I beat her once. But then she used the safe-word and said she would prefer a game of chess instead....

I wrote this in the SB today and it probably bears repeating here.

I need more PW fobs...and don't carry a PW around with me without one.

To me, there are two kinds of fobless PW carriers...

The ones who have dropped their watches, and

The ones who will.

A dropped PW is a sad thing to behold. Once the hinge is sprung, crushed or damaged, it is a difficult, unsightly repair.

Not only that, it can be an expensive repair. When I buy PWs I don't normally buy them if the hinges are broken.

It's a bad sign IMO.

I have never dropped a pocket watch, but for all of these treasures, I hope you all have nice fobs to attach to them.

If you don't have a nice fob, you can create one while you are waiting to get one.

Even a shoelace or string can save your watch from a traumatic dropping accident.

I get shoelaces at the dollar store and keep them around for working on PWs and carrying them around while doing so.

They are cheap, soft and functional insurance policies for at home use.

Keep your pocket watches safe.

:)

1824 by the hallmarks, about half way thru Mr Clarke's career. It's currently waiting to have a broken balance staff repaired.

I have a 1920s Waltham PW as well but no pics and also in the shop, I don't lay a hand on these oldies.

Wow Trailboss...amazing PW. I will have to try to look that one up.

I see only one trade directory for Michael Clarke of Morpeth.

Is that ...8672 ? I can't read the movement number. What a beauty.

Incredibly beautiful filigree regulator adjustment, and great photo of the pillars separating the plates.

I think that pillar mounting is known as Egyptian and found in 18th and early 19th Century PWs.

I will look for your early 19th Century date of 1824 and try to check the movement number if info is available.

It's too late to research now, it's after midnight here...but must see what I can find tomorrow.

Fantastic watch. Thanks for posting and would love to hear more about it, if you have a chance.

Research is thin for these lovely antiques.

Great watch. Thanks for sharing

Awesome seems too meager, Col.

That's a true work of art, just like a Van Gogh or a Monet.
