Rolex sub mariner, auto movement how to wind ??

Is the only way to wind this watch by wearing it ??

Unscrew the crown until it pops out. It'll be in the winding position. Slowly turn it clockwise (your thumb will move away from you). You should hear it winding. How loud it sounds will depend on the movement: the cheaper ones make more noise than the expensive ones.

 

Generally, wind it enough to get it started then strap it on.
