DC I agree, cool to own a few reps obviously Im not against it, but a small collection of fine gens as you mentioned is the holy grail for me as well. I concur with some things said in that article tho. If starting with a limited budget and looking for quality, Seiko is the way to go This article also got my attention in those Detroit made watches shinola, I wonder how they hold... Have good and sustainable income or resources for purchases by you, or a rich GF/Wife/SO or parent to pay for you. 3. Do lots of research on what you like and don't be approval seeking for what others like. 4. Buy cheapies to find your taste and then venture into more expensive reps. 5. Sell cheapies you don't want to support your higher end watches. 6. Buy from Trusted Dealers and don't go cheap on the shipping. 7. Set a reasonable budget and stick to it. 8. Read and research alot on the forum, pay particular attention to dealer feedback and watch reviews. 9. If you don't know, ask, but read and research first to be fair to other hobbyists. 10. Have fun...if it isn't fun, it isn't for you. Don't stress and learn to have some patience. 11. Have some creative problem solving skills for interacting with dealers and other hobbyists. AP Clearwater was what people used in the gen world to get the ROO bracelet... for the rep... the city of sails (not sure if rep has bracelet or not) should be of the same size (RO chrono) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

As far as i understand what she means is that if you are buying a vintage watch apparently in good condition in the outside that has never been serviced, would be a better purchase after you send it for service than a "vintage" watch that has been stripped countless times and has franken pieces all over.
