danco 0 Posted March 18, 2014 What are my chances of survival if it only is running for 2 days a week and i hack it every other day?
Daywatch 4 Posted March 18, 2014 Hi, that will already depend on how good it is in the first place. If You avoid using the chrono (and only stop/than reset it between 50 and 10) it just might hold over a Year. It´s not just the secs at 6, there are several subdials and hands to be well aligned for it to look nice and that gets difficult. Also lots of markers which may be "off the mark". Tried 2 times wanting to take the risk but couldn´t get a good sample to begin with. Good luck, it´s such a nice looking watch. If You get the Newman or pre-Newman Daytona with secs at 9 and hw movement it´s fine.
danco 0 Posted March 18, 2014 not sure what the newman is? ill probably buy from perfect clones or trusty time. Is there some sort of pre service i can get done?
Daywatch 4 Posted March 18, 2014 Something like this, just picked any, there are several models http://www.ttw888.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_6&products_id=7666 the Asian Venus 75 Chronograph Handwind Movement is very reliable. A pre-service is not worth the while from the TD´s and imho the best is to do nothing as everything else is expensive but always has a problem related (putting graphite on subdial but this will get stuck later/ freezing the seconds at six but than it does not move and this implies taking gears out by specialist etc.)
JSJ 0 Posted March 18, 2014 Daywatch can you point to some evidence that the graphite will get stuck later please? I've done it to two IWC Portuguese now so I'm very interested.
