If only you knew the people in here that think they are safe & hidden behind a VPN ...

This one was way easier to catch though

Hello Guys,

Just ordered my first rep after reading for weeks now haha.

I have a lot of watches at home (cheap max 500) but didn't know about the rep culture till a friend of mine told me about it so I want to try it :).

You can follow my first adventure here:

Aloha degenerates (that's how I engage my work colleagues so please do be offended). Looking forward to discussing and reading and reading and reading about this new (to me) fascinating hobby! Have quite a few genuine pieces and recently been intrigued at the quality of the rep industry.  Hopefully I'll have an opportunity to pick up a few nice reps soon.

Noob here, have had a few reps and originals.

Trying to learn about different movements, what the difference between AAA and VF, and factory.

what to look out for, how to know what movements look the best.

Just learning, I am an avid cigar smoker, and old fisherman, travel a lot for business all over the US.

this is just another hobby m, I can’t affford the originals like could in the past, and live the mechanics behind the watch’s themselves.

Welcome.

The movement's you'll want to research are the 21J's (2813), 2824, 2836, 7750, 6497, 3135. They will be the most prolific / ubiquitous. If you see an A in front of them, it simply means an Asian clone. The 28 series will be minute, hour, second, date. 7750 is a chrono, 6497 in the PAM's and 3135 is a Rolex caliber. 90% plus of the rep world will have one of those movements or some variant of it. RWI has a good tech section dedicated to movements if you really want to go down the rabbit hole. There's also a guy on youtube , Watch Repair Channel, that has some videos of servicing some of the clones under magnification. There's also some good video in thread here that animate how they work in some detail.

What looks best isn't always what is best. The highly modified, decorated movements look fantastic, but when they break, they can be toast.

That should keep you busy for a while.

Cheers

Hi all,

Slowly becoming interested in watches and a purchase of my first rep from someone who originally purchased it on here has lead me in this direction.

Thanks for having me.

G'day all,

Only discovered this site about a week ago.

Been into reps a few years now, I bought my first rep in Ko samui back in 1999!

Just purchased my latest only this week. I will follow up with some details later.

Cheers
