submarinerblue 8 Posted April 3, 2014 I'm looking to buy a Panerai Submersible. One version has the standard 2813 movement. Another has the Asian 6497 hand-wind. Does anyone know how they compare in terms of reliability/accuracy. Can the 6497 be regulated as easily as the 2813? Never owning a hand-wind is there anything I should be aware of? Left Coast Guy 24 Posted April 3, 2014 I think both are serviceable movement, so you shouldn't really be too concerned about picking one over the other. Both will be reliable and accurate to a degree, you just have to decide which you prefer -- the handwound or the automatic. Generally, I've read (and on a limited basis, experienced) that the 6497 is a bulletproof movement -- long-lasting, stable, can take a beating. It would likely be used in more reps if not for its lower BPH vs the hi-beat 2813. With the smaller seconds hand at 9 on the PAMs, the lower BPH isn't noticeable (plus I think the gen is at 18,800), but with a longer seconds hand, on an Omega for example, you'd lose the smooth sweep with a 6497.
