the collector 0 Posted August 24, 2010 A post for all of us with ongoing or finished Daytona 6263 Valjoux 72 series Franken projects. Dials (gen or aftermarket) Bracelet How did you give your watch a good patina (vintage look) And guys please, ONLY serious franken projects. We want to see the best of the best here. Looking forward to seeing what you guys are up to. Myself, I have 2 projects ongoing. 1. 6263 - DW case, black dial. 2. 6265 - DW case, white PN dial. Both with Valjoux 726 series movm. Genuine bracelets, crowns, tubes, crystals.
KBH 7 Posted August 24, 2010 I guess my 6263 won't count since it's got a lowly Swiss Valjoux 7753 movement. and how about some pictures of your superfrankens?
andygt 0 Posted August 24, 2010 I see you didn't mention gen springbars. I hope you have used them as everyone knows that a serious franken project is not serious without them. Also did you use a rusted movement for a truly vintagised look?

speedzmaster 0 Posted August 24, 2010 What about the gen gaskets?
the collector 0 Posted August 24, 2010 Project is ongoing. Yes, gen springbars and gaskets. Valjoux movements are in v good condition, however, trying to find out the serial number of the correct winding stem for the 727 movement and the 24-703 crown. I will post pictures as soon as I can. It seems that i have missplaced my camera charger... annoying... @Dingleberry - Thanks

KBH 7 Posted September 18, 2010 Guys - Does anybody here know what font rolex used for the 6263 series cases? Please PM me Are you talking about the inside of the case back?
the collector 0 Posted September 18, 2010 (edited) @ KBH - Between lugs - Registered Design 6263 - Stainless Steel - XXXXXX (Serial Number) @ Seedzmaster - Helvetica is close, however i am quite sure rolx did not use helvetica, what stands out as the biggest difference between helvetica and the rolx font is the "flat top" on the number 3. See the link below for reference: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=136622 Edited September 18, 2010 by the collector
greg_r 82 Posted September 22, 2010 I think you'll find that - as with a lot of companies of this type - Rolex have comissioned a custom typeface (in this case it appears it may have indeed been based on Helvetica, but there are quite a number of differences). Unless someone has already done it and posted the font somewhere, you're probably going to have to modify the typeface yourself...

KBH 7 Posted September 27, 2010 Huge difference between the gen crystal and rep. Clarity and lack of distortion is much better. The biggest difference on the gen crown and tube is that they will last many, many times longer than the shitty ones that they put on reps, even if the average person would never know the difference.
