powerka 0 Posted April 18, 2014 Hi all, Newbie here. I'm exploring getting my first rep Sub. Absolutely love the Sub looks, size and fell, and I finally decided I don't care everyone has one. But I am no fan of metallic bracelets. Never had a metallic bracelet watch - maybe I love it once I get it and use it for a while. Either way, I'm trying to find high quality leather strap and a rubber strap to use with the deplyoant buckle. Rubber, I found rubberb.com. Kind of expensive, but it would do - would be great to find a cheaper alternative. Leather, I have been unable to find anything (yes, I both googled, used the search function on this forum, and went through this section). Any leads anyone? I could do without rubber, but a leather strap is a must for me. A year ago I had found a Swiss based company selling Rolex deployant buckle custom straps. Did not save the link and I can't find it anymore. I used to have a gen Omega Acqua Terra (had to sell it). The buckle was otherworldly good (have a look: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f20/aqua-terra-strap-870103.html). Any thoughts on using an Omega buckle on a Sub? Many thanks! black263 228 Posted April 25, 2014 Just to prove that you are never too old to learn, can a Panerai Asso strap be converted to deployant, or do you have to have one specifically made for the purpose?
powerka 0 Posted April 26, 2014 Wish I'd know. I've searched all over the place for a leather strap for a 116610 Sub to use with its deployant buckle. The only strap that may work with it (thus far) is the Rios King strap designed for Daytonas (http://www.gnomonwatches.com/king-mahogany-rolex-daytona). But then I had another distributor tell me it would not work with the Sub :( So I may end up having to settle for the rubber strap, or go for an Omega buckle, which seems to work on many leather straps. powerka 0 Posted December 16, 2016 Years later I finally tried a Hirsch leather strap - Grand Duke alligator strap - very cheap looking and very stiff - would never recommend it to go with a nice watch.
