gB. 0 Posted August 30, 2010 VINTAGE 6154 ROLEX DIAL After seeing Greg's write up of this watch a while back (link here), I was determined to have it on my wrist at some point. I sought out DSN and made the purchase (from his photobucket shop link here), only to receive it and the movement was determined to be DOA. So I contacted DSN and he handled it perfectly, instructing me to send it back for replacement. So finally after two months from ordering this watch, it is now on my wrist. I won't go into a thorough review and history of this watch since Greg has already done that at the previous link (although I will post this in the Panerai section just to be different…). This watch came with the display back, which I plan to keep on so I can view that awesome molnija hand wind Russian movement (details link here), but it also included the solid caseback (per the gen) and two quality gen leather straps (one 26/26mm and one 26mm tapered). The straps are very nice, but come with the oversized FLAT buckle, which I'm not too crazy about (will probably post for sale at some point, PM me if interested). I decided to put this beauty on a high quality Italian vintage leather strap, sourcing both a dark and a lighter one. On to the pics (all pics are via iPhone, so please excuse the quality ). Here it is on the darker Toscana "Livorno" in Noce with sewn in Toscana Shiny Pre-V buckle (link here), which goes well with the dial color IMO: Here are some macro shots of the dial, crown, and that awesome movement, using only the same iPhone but combined with a small magnifying glass from the RWG Toolkit Here it is on a lighter Toscana Acero vintage leather with sewn in New Natural Pre-V buckle (link here), which goes better with the hands and marker color IMO, and also a better choice for summer time. It will probably stay on it until the winter when I may switch it to the darker strap. BTW, this strap has a phenomenal smell to it, kind of like a naked Italian woman wearing only calf-skin leather boots!      And the wrist porn shot...  Thanks for letting me share! greg_r 83 Posted August 30, 2010 Watch looks great - wearing mine today. Easily my favourite Just one minor whine, could you please keep your pix to around 940 pix wide max. Posting larger pics not only breaks the board theme, but also makes your post very difficult to read on smaller screens (such as the netbook I'm posting this from) due to having to scroll sideways. You're just trying to keep a brother down. The bigness needs to get out...

gB. 0 Posted August 30, 2010 Very nice watch. I wish I could wear a 47mm - I'd buy one right now! Hey Tressles, it's about the same size as the Tag you bought from me (or is that the problem)... It wears about the same size as a SOH, IWC BIG Pilot, PAM 183, etc...

GC 4,517 Posted August 31, 2010 Very nice! I'm a big fan of the Rolerai... and now I'm jealous (in a good way of course) :( Great iPhone pics, enjoy it often (the Rolerai, not the iPhone! Enjoy both for that mater!)

Maybe on of these days I'll progress to something else other than my iPhone for pics, but not anytime soon.
andygt 0 Posted August 31, 2010 That looks nice! Did it it come like that from DSN with the brevet crown? Any other mods bar the strap change? Will have to get me one of these - can I ask the price?

No mods on this Rolerai except for swapping out the straps. Nothing wrong with the 2 straps it comes with, both high quality leather, just the large flat buckle is not my thing and I wanted to get different colored ones. I paid $280 shipped for this one back in early July. DSN's pricing seems to shift often, and he is slightly over priced IMHO, but he does have high quality Panerai that are hard to find elsewhere.
