watch goes faster

Recommended Posts

Hello, if anyone can help me.

A few monts back i bought a rep. watch and it keeps going like 5-7 min faster a day. It's like that from when i bought it, but now I'm really sick of it setting the time twice a day to have accurate time.

Anyone know what it is, and what should i do?

Sounds like the beat/timing is miles out or a gummed hairspring, ETA or Asian?

Mechanical watches can be adjusted/regulated for timing. This is the best source of info I've found on the net to date explaining it all.

Woah! Stop! You cannot regulate a watch that's 5-7 minutes fast a day! About the most you can get out of regulation is +/- 30 secs a day. You should not mess with the beat without a watch timing machine. There are a few possibilities, but you're going to have to get it looked at and find out what movement it has. It could be magnetised, or the hairspring could indeed be gummed up, either way it needs serviced and regulated properly. If it's a cheap Chinese movement, throw it away and fit a new one, if it is an ETA movement it can be serviced. It is highly unlikely to be a Japanese movement, this is what scam websites call a cheap chinese movement. Where did you buy it from?

like i said earlier, the guy i bought it from it said:

gold movement coz they are better & they are japanese citizen movement. The watch works perfectly fine except gaining like 5 min a day.

It's a 100$ watch from houseofsouvenirs.

Edil, don't believe everything someone trying to sell you something says. The point is a watch that is gaining 5 minutes a day cannot be regulated, there is something wrong with it.

Wouldn't a "japanese citizen movement" be a quartz movement?
