Del 4,463 Posted September 13, 2010 Hi all, A colleague of mine saw my GMTIIc with Asian copy movement that I bought from Timesshop recently and was so impressed with it that he ordered one for himself. It arrived at the weekend and he is wearing it today at work - unfortunately, the GMT hand doesn't move over time. It is very weird as the watch appears to be perfect in every way - it keeps normal time ok, the date sets and turns ok, and you can set the GMT hand as normal but it then doesn't move over time. Even more weird is that when you manually move the time on the watch forward using the crown the GMT hand moves normally at half the speed of the hour hand as it should! As far as I can see, the GMT hand is not catching on the hour markers and even when it is set between the hour markers it doesn't move from that position. I am really gutted for him as it looks like the watch will have to be returned. Anybody came across this particular fault before? Cheers, Del
Brightlight 0 Posted September 13, 2010 Sounds like the GMT gear is not seating properly for some reason. Dial off job I'm afraid.
KinCaidk 0 Posted September 13, 2010 I have the same problem with my GMT IIc (clone movement) It ususally helps if I set the GMT time first, then the date, then the regular time..

Does that mean you can get your GMT hand to work when you follow that sequence?
Silverspeed 10 Posted September 13, 2010 no problems with gmt on gen eta GMT II +1 always buy the best possible movement, if the factories modded the original movement in this instance adding a GMT function....whether it's actually swiss or not, usually the fit and finsh is much better and less chance of this kind of issue

I wasn't really wanting to open up a debate on whether you are better buying a Swiss ETA or Asian copy ETA movement but to find out if anybody had experienced a similar problem with their Asian copy GMTIIc.
