tictoc21 0 Posted June 12, 2014 It appears the gold Daytonas have a riveted bracelet, how difficult is it to remove links and once done how hard is it to put them back? The other concern is marring the gold during the process.

DeLaForce 2 Posted June 12, 2014 Or if by some miracle they actually made then gen spec, the on the underside of the band you just open he middle of the link like an envelope with flat tweezers, and remove the links, it's actually really easy IMO.

What are the basics at least?! DC at the bottom if it is gen spec the last couple of links will have a screw on both sides...in order to adjust you have to put a screwdriver on both sides of the bracelet at once and screw in opposite directions....if you do only one side, the other side will turn and nothing will happen. then a tiny, tiny screw will pop out of the tube(dont lose it) there is only a screw top on one side and you can pull the tube out of the other side. remove or add a link and repeat in reverse to size

glgl 0 Posted June 12, 2014 Wow, this is a great thread I'm about to place an order for a couple vintage Rollies next week, and now it's difficult to make my mind up on which ones to order first! Everyone who has posted pictures - Great looking watches!!
DeLaForce 2 Posted June 12, 2014 Were yours stretch bands? The stretch version doesn't have this only the non stretch version All Gen riveted bands don't have screws. Reps mostly do have screws in the bottoms links, unless it's a yuki or ndt, The screws are a 'tell' that's its fake.
fetasigma 0 Posted June 12, 2014 Well I have been corrected but that's how you size them anyway
DeLaForce 2 Posted June 12, 2014 Well I have been corrected but that's how you size them anyway Reps ....yeah Im sure Josh's new stuff will have screws... Shame . I'm guessing it saves the flood of emails, ppl crying that the band can't be sized
Russkiy Doc 0 Posted June 12, 2014 About resizing riveted bracelet on vintage gold Daytonas ........... Here is a picture of a genuine vintage SS Submariner riveted bracelet ... date stamp on clasp 7-70. Lamp bulb makes it look yellow, but it is gray SS. You can see that there are only rivets. The last link to the clasp ... you can see that it was obviously bent ... for resizing ... and badly bent back. I do not know what is the rep gold Daytona. But I'll find out and say, because I bought one yesterday.
Conex 0 Posted June 13, 2014 Been away a few days and missed this delicious thread, will be perusing this vintage goodness more closely. Here is my collection...I'm afraid it is only happy snaps from iPad. Love this 1016. Managed to track down one and it's on order. Love the simplicity. To me this is the ultimate in simple, iconic design. Plus it's the watch Ian Fleming wore, so one could argue, it's the ultimate Bond watch. Obviously this is the Space Dweller dial, and not the original 1016 dial. Lovely watch mate.
Martinjogs 0 Posted June 13, 2014 It is a cool watch and I managed to pick this up from one of our senior members on RWG. The replica factories never made the Spacedweller model so these were specially modded, hence the scarcity. I'm crusty and somewhat vintage myself so wearing these kind of matches my persona. I think with the vintage/modded/aged/franken watch and a good strap you get more of a personalised watch...one that has character. Glad you started this thread, there are some lovely examples of the genre!
