Conex 0 Posted June 13, 2014 Lovely mate. What did you have done apart from dial change?
_DC_ 218 Posted June 13, 2014 Lovely mate. What did you have done apart from dial change? Replaced click spring, replaced dial which involved modding the movement as the 6 o'clock subdial is a few mm higher, polished the bezel where I'd tried to vintagize it with sandpaper and replaced the crown with a slimmer more gen like item! Thrasher 135 Posted June 13, 2014 Damn this is the best thread ever, Maybe the WORST at the same time. A couple days ago nothing and I wouldn't even give a Daytona a second thought but now who cares about 7750s , The Daytona and Paul Newman that's like James Bond and an old Sub or a Omega SM Pro. Damn this thread.
Hakaman 0 Posted June 14, 2014 Just received this 5517 from Helenarou. I'm stoked with it. It's the first rep I've received (I'm waiting on a TCv6) and the whole process was awesome. Check it out...
Hakaman 0 Posted June 14, 2014 ^^^ Just need to work on the pearl which is not yet aged and maybe engrave the case
Ishmael 92 Posted June 14, 2014 New strap arrived this morning... (along with some new dice Don't know how I missed this... musta been during all the hullabaloo of the gold Daytonas being released. Where did you get that strap?! It's amazing with that watch! Fucking gorgeous. On that note - does anyone have a go-to for great leather straps for the vintage Daytonas? At a 19mm lug width, its hard to find good ones without trying to squeeze on a 20mm. IMO, that 1mm less in the thickness of the strap makes the case stand out that much more - when I squeezed a 20mm on my 6265 it seemed to dwarf the case a little. I don't know, maybe its just me. But lemme know if you vinTona owners have a go-to 19mm leather strap dealer. Thx!
Ishmael 92 Posted June 14, 2014 Here's my collection. Next on my list -- some PN daytonas, maybe a milsub, and a 1675? Wait a minute hsmooth... where did you get the gold Paul Newman? Didn't think these were repped...?

Good pick up. Gotta love a Milsub. Thanks Conex. A Milsub has a certain quality to it because it has led a special life I think. Gives it history. It is not easy to give that to an object. I'm waiting on a Gunny NATO to go with it...
Conex 0 Posted June 14, 2014 Yes exactly. This is why I love the 5517. I was reading up about them and I love the stories of how they were often thrown back together with 3rd party parts or hands from Omegas so they could get back out in the field. I think the bezel really makes them stand out as well and you gotta love that big "T". Pictures when your Gunny arrives on this thread please. That would be great.
