VinRoPix (Vintage Rolex Pics) Pic Heavy!

Pucci Papaleo is the absolute don of vintage rolex, he helped put together the "lesson one" Daytona auction which broke 50 records with 50 lots. Stupid name but an absolute legend, what he doesn't know about rolex chronographs isn't worth knowing!

Lol, the goodies came out a few days after this thread so I doubt it had anything to do with it, but it's a nice though!

Incidentally, you can buy a white dial "pre-Daytona" which has white subdials too, and put it together with a Daytona bezel, badda-bing badda-boom, albino Daytona :)

Josh gave me a few days notice on the imminent arrival of the Goldtona's so it was kind of the other way round. And with that on top of a conversation I had with some of you guys the night before, the VinRoPorn thread was born.

That's right it did. Once I get my gold 6263 black dial from spinmaster (which will have a much better bracelet, I might add), I'm tempted to see if he can build an albino for me... if I don't get a TC Sub Rouge, that is. :)

Feel that I must post my poor old snowflake before it gets rehoused in a case with crownguards, it started life as a double red 1665 and I tried to reshape the crownguards and made a complete hash of it so took them off completely, anyway after buying a new 5513 case off a member here I am happy to report that this case will soon have a big crown and a vintage dial and i will have a snowflake with crownguards.

You know, I already have that 6262 on top... assuming I buy the second one for the dial, to whom could I send both to have the dials swapped out? And how much would that likely cost?

I use SSTEEL but he's based in Finland so don't know if that'll work for you! If it does though just PM him for prices, he's a top bloke and does great work, and comms are superb!

I'm buying one come pay day and at present I'm falling in favour of one 'o these...

But what I really want is this in gold so not sure if I should just wait for that and get a different version in steel?!?

Well... It's seems the only thing you & I don't have in common Dave, is a penchant for boat shoes... LOL

I was indeed giving the eyes to the PN6241.

Also gone & just ordered the B&S PN Faststrap...

http://bulangandsons.com/the-paul-newman-strap-is-live/

Pricey but given the quality of the product, very worth it.

Also took the liberty of ordering a 16mm gold rolex tang from Yuki for the 6263

The ideal being it'll look a little something like this if I want it to:

Finally found a strap I like to fit on the gold Daytona. Picked this one up on etsy from the seller named Vieux Halloo.

The more I see of vintage Daytonas the more I'm thinking my incoming good one from Josh will be flipped within days. Quickly moving away from them :(

Wrong watch. I'm going off Daytonas in favour of Subs & Seadwellers.

I couldn't pick between them. I love them all the same. Every time I think i like my VinTonas more, my 5512 suddenly gets wrist time, and then suddenly my 6205...... Its relentless. Great new pictures added over night. Thanks people.

My newest acquisitions, all from Andrew at TT. A lovely GMT #1675 Pepsi, a wonderful Explorer I #1016 and finally the marvellous DR Sea Dweller. I really don't know which one to wear first. Lume is very good on all of them surprisingly. Will definitely be using the Explorer I as a little vintagizing project. The other two will probably be left as they are for now. Might put the Explorer on a Nato as well. Anyway, pictures. Do excuse the fluff on the Explorer. Fortunately it is external and only noticed once I'd pulled up the photos in PS. The GMT has a very slightly crooked cyclops but I am quite happy with that. I saw it in the QCs so fully responsible. It's very, very slight and actually no more skewiff than the gen GMT II I had a few years ago.
