BC1221 44 Posted August 27, 2014 Who the hell is MBW and where do we get these cases? It seems he may be out of business, but is HE or is the FACTORY done? These seems to be (from what I have read) the best basis for a build of a vintage sub. That Serti is geat, and I'd love to have the mid case as a basis for a build... Meanwhile still awaiting another 1680 case from eBay that promises to be nice... Needs a bit of crownguard work but otherwise a good find I think. I will be reporting/showing it here once assembled. MBW=Maria's Best Watches. A boutique in the MBK mall in Thailand. Reg/Narrika can get these cases I believe when he goes out there. Around $300-$400 and the best hands down.Forget Cartel, Angus, Phong, Yuki. For the $ IMNSFHO, its the best deal. I was just thinking that this morning...Connie where are you bud?!? I've heard $500-$600 if you can even get them at all. According to RA, PT has the best base for a 1680 build. Gen spec thickness, lugs, will take gen parts including crown. Shame angus never has them in stock anymore.
jdog 1 Posted August 27, 2014 $500 plus cases are the old school MBW. Very hard to find and very pricey when they come up. Their newer versions are still great. Angus certainly did get the better of the "stock" TD cases compared to the Cartel or Sillix specials. Unfortunately without modding to either the dial or the rehault, inside casing etc, they wont take a gen dial. Hopefully he can start getting a supply in again. MBK is good and probably the best bet for a reasonable build base ... but not the same as the old MBW. There is a thread somewhere which does explain it all. An MBW caseset has the " polex orig design" in between the lugs

As I said to BC, they're not the same as the original but better that the cartels for sure. Angus is a no go being out of stock. And with Phong, NDT, and Ming being pretty pricey and still needing work done, I think they're the best starting point for the price. I was lucky to grab a "Polex" (Always makes me laugh) this week. I havent seen any come up in a long time and jumped on it.

Monty010 1 Posted August 27, 2014 Can I just thank you gentlemen. I wasn't really into rolex, but after seeing Al these vintage watches it made me think I need a 5517 really bad now
BC1221 44 Posted August 27, 2014 (edited) hahaha vintage rolexes are like a disease you never knew existed until you catch it. i never was interested in them until i saw rolexaddicts work on a 1680. ever since then, ive wanted one and wanted to mod them. i know my work doesnt come close to RA's but its honestly a lot of fun. ive been playing with this cheapie cartel 1680 for a month or so now. newest addition is a clark plexi. so much better than the cartel one. got a new dial and did a darker lume. its not as yellow as before. the clark insert looks a million times better than cartel ones too but i scratched this one up too bad. need to get another and just fade it. also need to get rid of that giant crown and pop a 702 on there. lume shot group lume shot. DeLaForce 2 Posted September 7, 2014 Took a few pics quick last night with the panam 1959 games program, and made a letter. Like the original vrf thread for a giggle. Bit of fun homaging a homage of a myth, but still I like it Ps:(the letter doesn't make much sense ) \ \ \ \ \cell \lastrow\row}
