Ishmael 92 Posted July 11, 2014 Dude that's sweeeeeeeeet! Where can I get one? EDIT: found their website. 8 bills! Welp, if my fifty fathoms never arrives I'll put that money toward it. Best homage I've seen yet!
Arism 26 Posted July 11, 2014 Patina. Don't know if I have said it before but gladly say again, Arism, I love this Space- Dweller! So rare. Never see one come up for sale either. Wasn't this only released in Japan? Not sure where I heard or read that. Cheers Kcore, your compliments are much appreciated In the words of Hodinkee; "...produced in EXTREMELY limited quantities, and only in Japan, and only on a trial-basis. Inspired by the Mercury astronauts' first visit to Japan in 1963, the watch was only produced as a test. If the watch was a commercial success, Rolex would then go ahead and re-brand the Explorer as the Space-Dweller for the Japanese market. Needless to say, it was not a success and very few of the Space-Dwellers ever made into the open market. The Explorer was chosen to commemorate the astronauts' visit because they were (at the time) considered the world's greatest explorers." There are a few other Space-Dwellers around these parts; J.Eric and LHOOQ come to mind. They do occasionally pop up on M2M but as they are usually franken projects, most owners are unwilling to part with them. If I ever choose to sell, you'll be first on my list

Best homage I've seen yet! Thanks! I bought it from Houndoggie on M2M section. He gave me a good deal vs. the new one. He ended up with the Noob rep I think. All paid up with Toro for one. But there's a huge waiting list I guess so if he has to refund me, I'll be going that direction. How's the lume?
ellistyle1 0 Posted July 12, 2014 Patina. Beautiful! Ed Arism—what did you do to the dial to get that effect? Or is it the photo that ages it further?

Paying a compliment to such a thing of beauty is a pleasure and as such, to the owner is a simple matter of, "tibi dominus corporis mei sum!" ( i tip my hat to you sir!) I thought I recalled the Space-Dweller made for the Japanese market and thank you for the complete back story. so interesting and a great piece of Rolex history & trivia too. Keep posting pics of this beauty so I know it still exists Yes, yes I know, totally kissing-up, but for that Space-Dweller, no prob!

dave47 6,484 Posted July 12, 2014 It's Friday -- the official start of the weekend!! R & R for all who still have to labor (or labour). Today, my fav. Rolex of all: 16613LG (I believe) w/ an A 2836 heart. If I had the gen, I'd probably sell most of my other reps to wear the (now) 116613 all the time. Love it! dave:
