Arism 26 Posted July 12, 2014 Patina. Beautiful! Ed Arism—what did you do to the dial to get that effect? Or is it the photo that ages it further? @cj610 Cheers mate @ellistyle I prefer vintage reps to look their age rather than look brand new; I mean the chances of someone finding a untouched NOS are quite slim to none. As such, the dial when I first got it just looked too clean for my liking. I do love tropical dials but those are damn near impossible to replicate with my skill(or lack thereof). Ended up trying to imitate some water damage; something along the lines of residue from water vapour getting to the dial and condensing. A bit unorthodox but I used some aerosol hairspray. Quick spray maybe an arm-length or two away and just let the vapour fall naturally onto the dial. Was pretty pleased with the result actually. Apologies for the photo quality; CrapBucket is the only place I could find my build pictures :/ Now that's a list I want on, thank you, thank you!!! Your Space-Dweller would be well cherished. That I can promise. Paying a compliment to such a thing of beauty is a pleasure and as such, to the owner is a simple matter of, "tibi dominus corporis mei sum!" ( i tip my hat to you sir!) I thought I recalled the Space-Dweller made for the Japanese market and thank you for the complete back story. so interesting and a great piece of Rolex history & trivia too. Keep posting pics of this beauty so I know it still exists Yes, yes I know, totally kissing-up, but for that Space-Dweller, no prob! @kcore No problem mate, the Space-Dweller is currently 1 of 3 reps I wear regularly. Might need to add a 1675 to that soon though... Speedy on Gunny NATO for the weekend.
