jdog 1 Posted July 18, 2014 Morning all, I wanted to go for a bit more of a older/vintage build than some of my others. Here we are with a 1958 Tudor 7822. After seeing one on the bay after some trolling, I decided to build a big crown. The watch was in great shape so I thought it would be a perfect example to build after. As luck would have it, some parts popped up on the forums and I pounced on them. Unfortunately it took me in a different direction so I decided to start from scratch. The case started out as a 6538 from Michelle. Drilled the lugs and spent the next week and a half shaping and modifying the case including the lugs for a slimmer profile like its gen counterpart. A bit of polishing and some aging to give it the effect I was looking for, I think I ended up with a very nice looking case. An Athya V1 crown and RT Insert came in to play from the parts sourced from the 1st build. The dial came from the first build as well and I sourced some gold hands from WSO. The bezel assembly as well came from them. Clark crystal and finally a Yuki rivet 7206 bracelet with gen 80 endlinks and gen clasp. The dial was lightly aged and I like the way it came out. I may have it relumed later but I like the way it looks now so I'm going to leave it this way. Lightly aged the hands but they are not a match as the watch I saw had a set of RSC’d hands I thought looked good. All powered by a gen 2846 movement running very well. Enough about that…. On to the pics! (Yes, subpar quality)The 1st one is the watch I used for reference. But as you can tell, I didn't go with the red triangle version or as much of the aging. More of a guide. Relume update 8/

J!m 289 Posted July 18, 2014 This looks great Jason! Is this the "top secret" Tudor project you were working on? I think we need a "Vintage Tudor" thread... Besides the blue snowflake I cobbled togetter from a pile of very expensive parts, I have another Tudor project in the works. Also "Top secret" until the unveil, but I may include a full build write up and picture show on that. Any other vintage Tudor fans care to get a thread going? elp 26 Posted July 18, 2014 J - That is gorgeous. I prefer your version to the reference one! Fantastic dial, hands look better too. BTW, I agree with Pseudonym, if you have the chance of getting some puffier lume effect it will be the dog's danglers.

StormyNight 0 Posted July 18, 2014 ...or unloading it and moving on. Definitely do this. Horrible thing it is. There's a lovely kind woman in the UK who could take it off your hands so it's not a "problem" to you anymore. I'll PM you my, sorry... >ahem< "her" address shall I? millionaire wannabe 1 Posted July 19, 2014 Amazing work! Looks very gen like, I think most people, even experts would have no idea this isn't gen if they saw this on someone's arm out there. (Assuming they haven't read this thread. ) Very nice work, enjoy and don't put this on m2m. (Trying a little reverse psychology here lol)
jdog 1 Posted July 19, 2014 Thanks guys! I'll let you know Vic, but I think she's staying here for a bit. Going off to Cwazy in about a week for some lume. Just found an engraved case back as we'll so I'm pretty fucking stoked.
