A watch hobby can get pretty pricey, so I'm just wondering: what do you guys do for a living? Do you have kids? I'm just curious :chatty:

Retired history prof; currently, a watch conneseuir (spell.) and rep watch web cruiser.

I'm the least likely person to be able to indulge in a collection of anything. I'm a stay at home mum (and soon to be home educator) to 4 year old and 13 week old boys. Before I had my second I had a little business selling home made crafts and furniture, but I spent my earnings on snakes :D

But I feel lucky that at 29 I've decided to stop wasting my money on costume jewellery, and instead save and invest in solid gold/platinum. However my favourite watch of all time (Rolex datejust) is just slightly[/] out of my family's one wage income capabilities. Never the less thanks to this forum I will get to see one on my wrist and own a watch that should last a little longer than eBay toot. Cheers :)

Good to see a female pop in once in a while. I have no idea how many we have around here, but I'm pretty sure they're few and far between. Welcome and BTW, my fav is also a datejust circa 1987.

There's quite a few of the fairer sex on the board, many of them keep it on the down low though, but then none of the fellas outwardly proclaim their gender either so I guess it's less keeping it a secret and more that it just doesn't come up in conversation!

Back on topic, I'm an estate agent, specifically I value properties for a living rather than selling them, but have been in the business for almost ten years now. I've been privileged to be asked for advice by several fellow members on their house moves in my time here which hopefully has been of use!

Contractor. No kids. Cost of living basically. Although I guess I need to start looking at engagement rings. 5 and a half years goes by fast... Goodbye watches.

Haha, I have no kids but am engaged with a wedding planned for May next year, including the honeymoon it's coming in at £25,000, still buying reps though, I can't help it! It helps me forget that with the money I'm spending on our wedding I could be buying several very nice gens, or at least one Patek!!

I agree: generally speaking the interest in watches for women is equal to our interests for their shoes.

And this is exactly what a female friend told me last time I wanted to show her my latest one :D

Well to be honest I thought my writing style would give me away anyway, but I'd like to be a solid part of the forum and this seemed like a good thread to post in :)

My other half works in the office for a construction company so not stupid money, but enough that I'm allowed a rep (or few!) I've got to wait till Christmas though! Thought I'd get my research and enquiry email in in good time, only to get a reply back the next day. Now I've got some long months ahead of me before any wrist shots can happen >.<

I can tell her that I learned something off this forum that doesn't pertain to watches. Educational shit right here. Now she'll stop rolling her eyes when she sees the website haha

Haha, I think technically it doesn't translate to "poison", rather the word for poison and the word for marriage are the same in Danish!

She's promised me a pocket watch to wear on the day, which will then be a nice memento of the day....... as well as the wedding ring obviously................ oh and the wife

I should point out we're paying for the wedding jointly so she's not getting off lightly!

I do tradefloor support, no kids but a wife who doesn't disapprove of the habit. Think she understands reps watches are just something I am into. I got a her a gen omega recently and she has kept quiet although I think the habit is rubbing off on her. The other day on the tube, she was nudging me asking if the woman's LV Rolex sitting opposite us was real. I was cracking up - a few years ago she wouldn't have known what a Rolex looks like - now she can name a few models (partly because I have had most of them, gens and reps)
