Great Great Grandmother's Pocket Watch

Recommended Posts

Mystery Shopper

One of the few things my Grandpa left for future generations was his father's, mother's gold pocket watch. The watch was given to him on a gold chain as a 21st birthday gift. That was in the early 1930s so the pocket watch probably dates from the 1870s. The watch has no brand visible. I had it valued at a local watchsmith and sadly, it's value is largely sentimental. It seems these watches were very common in their day and the pocket watch needs to be something special to be worth much. Anyway, I will leave it to one of my daughters in the very very distant future! Enjoy..

Very nice!

Those are the simplest, most agricultural bridges I've ever seen!

Does anyone have any idea what MVT that may be? Looks about as simple as can be so it should last just about forever.

I had one that had what looked like the same movement, but non-working. I did some research and apparently those movements are very common and almost generic for that time period. After having it looked at by a couple of experts the consensus was, the only value was the gold in the case.
