KBH 7 Posted February 8, 2009 I've wanted a Daytona but for two problems. One, the reliability of the movement, and two, can I pulloff wearing a $10,000 watch? Well, a few months ago I ran into an old acquaintance who was wearing a Daytona and the first thing that came to mind was "Is it a rep". I knew then and there it wasn't for me. I was looking at a couple of chronos with the Daytona look and decided on the Omega Speedmaster. The one that jumped out at me turned out to be the "Date" model. It has a little of the Vintage Daytona look to me. Supposedly 1:1, "Made with a Genuine Watch as Sample..." High beat A7750 which has been running within a few seconds a day without regulation. So many thanks to Narikka for an excellent transaction. He picked it up and QC'd it personally on his last trip to Bangkok. This watch has a beautiful dial that when out in the sun just jumps out at you. The AR is pretty good but I'm sure Chief's AR would be awesome on this one. The lume on the hands is as good as I've ever seen. It's easily readable at 5 in the morning. The dial is standard rep lume but it only has the small dots. When fully charged from being outside the lume's very noticeable when you come indoors.
AllergyDoc 40 Posted February 9, 2009 That watch looks great! The dial is nicely done. The lume is bonus. All you really need is the hands to glow and you can tell time.

Massimo 53 Posted February 9, 2009 Great looking watch and an excellent choice. I'm a bit of an Omega nut and they have changed the designs and expanded the range quite a bit recently for the Speedmaster variants. By all accounts the date version is an excellent rep and I agree that it isn't the sort of watch that you'd take for a rep either.

f15driver 0 Posted July 21, 2011 KBH, I love the watch, and I think I'm going to try to get one for myself. One question though. I know you said this rep used a genuine watch as a model, but is there a gen that has this color scheme? I haven't found one online anywhere, but admittedly, I'm not a genius when it comes to omega models. thanks, f15driver

Yes, there is a gen of this watch but I'm not sure of the model. There is one for sale on the bay right now and I have attached the photo. I notice a few differences from the rep right away.
