alistairw 0 Posted October 10, 2010 Hi all, I'm looking to buy a 5512 Vintage Rolex rep. Am a fan of Steve McQueen and this was the baby he always wore, when the sponsors were not around - his was auctioned for =$230,000. Have looked around, Andrew at Trusty has this one http://www.yourtrustytime.com/index.php?ma...products_id=215 It looks pretty good to me, but would appreciate any comments on how close to gen. Thanks in advance.
trailboss99 994 Posted October 10, 2010 Yeah, problem is it has a 2836-2 in it which is far to fast a beat. The gen is 19,800 vph and the 2836 is 28,800. This would be a far better watch with an ETA 2846 beating at 21,600. Also, I would be highly doubtful of claims about a gen ETA in that watch. There are only a couple of dealers I would buy a gen ETA from and Jandrew is not one one of them. I'd try contacting MarvellousReplica here: [email protected] And ask him if he source you one with a low beat ETA (2846) in it. I know he's found them before. It's not on their site but it may well be worth trying Pure Time as well. Col.

alistairw 0 Posted October 14, 2010 :gday_mate_haveabeer: Bit the bullet and ordered the 5512 from Andrew at Trusty. Have seen a nice dial which I may replace the existing one with once finances are better through Yuki. http://www.yukiwatch.com/catalog/item/6380817/7914980.htm
dizzy 0 Posted October 22, 2010 Gotta watch out for these watches, as they use a larger than gen dial. Gen dial is 26.5mm and I believe these are 27.25mm or more. I tried to put an MBW dial into my 5514 from the Cartel, and it falls right through the rehaut. MBW dial is slightly smaller than gen though but its still going to be very close. dizz
miquel 0 Posted October 23, 2010 (edited) I agree with Dizzy...the Cartel 5512 is definitely larger in the dial and bezel insert compared to the MBW 5512. Wear that one for what it is and when finances permit, purchase an MBW, it has the correct dimensions. Here's mine... miquel 0 Posted December 2, 2010 (edited) Hi your watch is really a beauty, Can I ask you from which dealer did you buy it? Thanks! I bought from a forum member, but it originally came from MBK in Bangkok. I think you can buy them from Narikaa and Rolexfinder. I also added Clark's Tudor hands and a Clark's T-39 crystal...makes a huge difference! Edited December 2, 2010 by miquel
