graman 2 Posted October 13, 2010 Hey all.... Have been looking at dive watches lately....and am checking out the 2007 IWC aquatimer cousteau....I likey very much. It lead me on to a question.... What is the best rep to service, and ensure water resistance for at least swimming? Rollies? I can imagine Breitling SOSF? or SOH? It's lead me to thinking....many can be "waterproofed", but what will stand up, and which is the best for such purposes? Feedback appreciated!
KeNnY 29 Posted October 13, 2010 I think Breitling SOSF :lmao: less buttons less problems. With a screw down crown it could be water resistant up to 20ATM
trailboss99 997 Posted October 13, 2010 The UNs are water proof out of the box. D4M took his to 60' without touching it and mine has been swimming many times. The PureTime vintage rollies are all oke to 30m OotB and just about anything without pushers is a fair bet to proof. Col.
graman 2 Posted October 13, 2010 I like the aquatimer, and would likely not swim with it, but I'm keen to find a watch that I can jump in the drink with. UN might be nice, and I don't mind the SOSF...would likely need proofing though?
NFleischer 4,355 Posted October 13, 2010 The chronos are harder to water proof even the gens. The chrono pushers tend to be leaky . the screw in crowns obviously are easier to keep dry
trailboss99 997 Posted October 13, 2010 Mate, for shear value you can't go past the UNs. Under $150 for a damn nice looking, big, water proof watch. Plus they come in just about any colour you could possibly want. I love my Blue Surf but the white ones are nice too as are the other various shades and textures. You could fill a watch box with the set easily. Def look their best on rubber tho, it adds something that's missing with the SS bracelet IMO. Very comfortable too. I have my DSSD on a strap now as it's just too much watch on steel. It may be interesting on a decent piece of mesh tho. Col.
Member X 91 Posted October 13, 2010 If the SOH v2s aren't waterproof then I'll eat my hat. (Well, if I had a hat... ) They feel ridiculously well made!

Waipio Jeff 0 Posted October 14, 2010 I swim and snorkel all the time with my: Rolex DSSD PAM 194 Breitling SOH Breitling Seawolf Omega PO Chrono. I have also had the DSSD down to 40 feet diving with no problems. All these were "waterproofed" by the dealers I got them from.
-XXXX- 0 Posted October 14, 2010 I am very happy with my Sinn U2. A bit of grease on the gasket/crown and I even went night diving (40 feet) with it. The lume is pretty ok out of the box.
