narikaa 129 Posted October 25, 2010 I would suspect that its one of the Chinese versions. Although nice, when both handled at the same time the superior fit n finish of the MBK shines thru. MBK only made the 'solid line seconds' on the graduated green/blue dial per the OP - solid colours only have seconds tick markers no line Also more metal around marker edges on MBK, better alignment to the bases of the 12 oclock markers and never any of the corrosion/erosion you have on the lower marker surrounds. . Baldrick 1 Posted October 25, 2010 hmm - are we talking to zombies here? possibly . No possibility..definite certainty, ZOMBIES, but not on the TTK side
Luthier 1 Posted October 25, 2010 Why this watch is so small.....
Member X 91 Posted October 25, 2010 What's the price like on these? I'm guessing $160+ as it must be ETA...
PatronSaintofChainsaws 1 Posted October 25, 2010 Nice. Is the MBK version available with the faded gray dial?
Baldrick 1 Posted October 25, 2010 Nice. Is the MBK version available with the faded gray dial? I believe it is ! I'm guessing $160+ as it must be ETA... Not for the MBK version! Why this watch is so small..... Because it wouldn't be the excellent rep that it is, if it were larger than the original, it was designed in the 70's by Gerald Genta ( designer of the Royal Oak ). It really looks completely like MBW, except from the hands that are slightly longer on mine. Anyone knows anything more?? Sorry mbjoer, it doesn't compare to the MBK version, yours is the Chinese cased version, dunno what movement is in it, but going by the casework, if you held it side by side you would instantly discern the quality differences! Member X 91 Posted October 25, 2010 I'm guessing $160+ as it must be ETA... Not for the MBK version! Gnargh, you can't leave me hanging like this! Come on, spill the beans Once again, I've never been a fan of these but this looks stunning and may have to go on the list... What size are they? 39mm?
Baldrick 1 Posted October 25, 2010 @M..X, I'm not sure of the current price for these, best to drop Narikaa a PM or e-mail, dun forget the £ has taken a beating since I bought mine One thing I can say, they are beautifully finished and virtually indiscernible from gen, Silverspeed made the right choice
Silverspeed 10 Posted October 25, 2010 The built quality and finish of this MBK PP is far and beyond the average rep...the dial has a beautiful colour texture and the bracelet is without a doubt better finished than any other bracelet I ever had....and I've had quit a few reps over the years Size is, I believe, 41mm but since the case is a bit squarish it does not wear small at all and 'cause it's very thin it fits perfect under any sleeve
dave47 6,459 Posted October 25, 2010 Hi, Narikaa! Do you have any more of these beautiful PPs available? If so, what size are they? What type of movement does it have? Who much? Etc.? Thanks for the info! dave ........ and reg is a great guy to deal with.... both in the here n now or from the afterlife .
narikaa 129 Posted October 25, 2010 None - I dont stock MBK items (no one does) - I get them to order when I am in Bangkok. Price for the MBK Nautilus is £275GBP + shipping (EMS from Thailand £20GBP, or Royal Mail from UK - with full insurance cover - £10GBP) .
Baldrick 1 Posted October 25, 2010 One aspect of the Nautilus that should be taken into accouunt, this item was designed as Patek's answer to the growing trend in the 70's for "sports dress watches", triggered initially by the Royal Oak, it's chief competitor along with Vacheron et Constantin's Overseas sports watch, as such it is an entry level Patek but still commands a very high price for the genuine item, an expenditure of under 300 GBP for an MBK rep of the Nautilus represents an excellent return for money spent, as no-one would know the difference and anyone who may be familiar with watches and especially Patek will recognise it immediately, you could comfortably wear this rep in Cannes / Monaco / Monte Carlo where they are plentiful or at SIHH with no fear of exposure, I put mine on the cloth of a Patek dealer in Glasgow whilst looking at a Calendrier, it was picked up, commented on and I was given all the usual courtesies extended to an existing PP owner, including the offer of a "trade-in" ! Member X 91 Posted October 25, 2010 I'm guessing 5 figures for the gen price? This one is seriously nice though - damn you SS, why do you keep posting such good pics that make things look good?!? I figured it would be a fair wedge but I think you really do get what you pay for a lot of the time I reckon this could qualify as a super-rep, maybe? Silverspeed 10 Posted October 25, 2010 The gen MSRP is $23000 so £275 for a very well made rep isn't all that bad...
Member X 91 Posted October 25, 2010 2% of gen... Not a bad price lol What are the other colour options apart from this blue/green and the grey? EDIT: (WTF makes the gen worth $23k?! lol There really must be a lot of label in the price...)
narikaa 129 Posted October 25, 2010 Pateks are priced that way so that their owners can sneer and look down their noses at plebeian Rolex wearers .
solkryssare 109 Posted October 25, 2010 If my designs all of a sudden became extremely popular and I made millions. This would be the firs gen watch I would buy. No doubt in my mind.
gtwc 1 Posted October 25, 2010 this might be a truly silly question, but who / which dealer is MBK? I would like to peruse his Pateks !!!
Member X 91 Posted October 25, 2010 MBK is a shop/dealer in Thailand, known for selling some of the better stuff I imagine narikaa is on first name terms with the place!
narikaa 129 Posted October 25, 2010 this might be a truly silly question, but who / which dealer is MBK?I would like to peruse his Pateks !!! MBK refers to the producer/supplier of these (and other) watches. His retail shop 'Nah Piek' is in MBK (Mah Bhoon Khrong) shopping mall in Bangkok. He has no internet presence not even email or fax.....and hes not kindly disposed to perusers either .
Baldrick 1 Posted October 25, 2010 and hes not kindly disposed to perusers either Understatement of the decade, he's positively negative about 'perusers', I think his mantra is "kwai mak mak loi"
