_DC_ 218 Posted January 7, 2015 It's not perfect, no, but as a Patek lover you have to learn to live with that, coz there's no such thing in the a Patek rep world as perfect!! It's got an officers caseback, I mean come on, FFS, it's awesome!! I'm happy Ishmael, very happy! DC

Dendo 93 Posted January 7, 2015 The Stainless steel version is $10 cheaper and is more believable.
James. 4 Posted January 7, 2015 The Stainless steel version is $10 cheaper and is more believable. I dont think patek do a stainless version of this, white gold though. But i agree ss is more understated and "passable" given most horological plebs would assume its meant to be ss rather than wg

Thing is that this is an ultimate brand - can we not consort to get someone to make a pretty excellent replica - I mean look at the Rolex replica situation - some excellent dealers/modders that excel in replicating these. RUSH2112 11 Posted January 8, 2015 It's a beauty and 40mm. Tempting.

SSTEEL 0 Posted January 8, 2015 Whats so special about the case back then?
mattstone83 0 Posted January 8, 2015 The caseback is hinged opening so no screw on to display the movement
Gmtaddict 1 Posted January 8, 2015 Whats so special about the case back then? There are 2! One solid and one display beneath it. Just the first time we see that in a rep, I think....
wolfwood 3 Posted January 8, 2015 The hinged opening is quite unique. Don't think I've seen it before. Cool.
SSTEEL 0 Posted January 8, 2015 Ah, I missed that, cool
Stuvetjee 17 Posted January 8, 2015 The hinged opening is quite unique. Don't think I've seen it before. Cool. But how long will it work properly? Hope they made the ''click'' system right, for the sake of DC
Kemist 0 Posted January 8, 2015 These are abs gorgeous. But is it me or the dwo is not quite aligned? But anw I'm so tempting. Either this or the Portofino
Dr. Jimmy 29 Posted January 8, 2015 AFAIK, the gen has an Ivory dial. These look white, really white. I haven't seen a gen with black dial.
Gmtaddict 1 Posted January 8, 2015 AFAIK, the gen has an Ivory dial. These look white, really white. I haven't seen a gen with black dial. That's what is keeping me on the sideline too.... But anw I'm so tempting. Either this or the Portofino Same here!
Gmtaddict 1 Posted January 8, 2015 Oh, and the lugs shape too, something is bothering me but can't quite figure it out exactly.....
_DC_ 218 Posted January 8, 2015 The lugs look really short because of the way the shadow falls on them, but they must be nearly the same length otherwise there'd be no room to fit the strap, so I wouldn't worry about that!! I agree on the dial colour, it does look a little too white, but that's life! Haha @ SSTEEL, epic fail not noticing the officers caseback Micky!! It's a thing of beauty!! I'm going to ignore the DWO comments, and the comparison to a Portofino (that's just offensive). Let's get things into perspective, this is about as good as any Patek rep gets!! All my reps have slightly misaligned datewheels, none if them have the exact correct dial colour, all of them have a flaw..... who cares?!? As soon as one of you lot buys my Datograph I'm getting this!!! The Dato' will be listed soon!!! DC
Kleen™ 45 Posted January 8, 2015 I don't do gold. It's too tacky in my small part of the world. But I like the simplicity of this...
