conx 0 Posted January 12, 2015 I decided to give the Wild East a go and buy a watch from Aliexpress. As I have a GMT fetish I decided an Omega GMT Seamaster was worth trying. I asked a couple of dealers for additional photos of the watch they had advertised and they replied "no" - so they were clearly not worth bothering with. I came across LTD-Selling or Mr Zhao who had decent feedback scores and he responded quickly with good English and attached some photos showing it did indeed have Omega on the dial. So I ordered - $85 including free postage. I figured I could afford to lose about £50 if I got nothing or a piece of shite ! So it arrived today after about 3 weeks - well I was a bit surprised by what I found in the package.... I first found an Omega branded cardboard box. Inside was an Omega branded wooden box. Inside the wooden box was a pretty decent Omega Seamaster GMT rep. Overall I'm pretty happy with it. It's clearly a 21J GMT movement and the GMT hand is independently settable. Flaws? Well 2 really if you are being petty 1. The bezel only rotates in 1 direction (not bi-directional as in the gen) 2. The case has an HE valve - the gen does not - so basically they have used the standard Seamaster rep case for this as it does have an HE valve and the bezel is uni-directional. Neither of these are an issue for me. I certainly wasn't expecting the boxes (even though they are not anything like genuine Omega boxes - now, where did I put those rep papers ?... The strap is pretty decent It uses easy split pins to adjust the size - unlike those pesky Plant Ocean nightmares! The diver extension works and also seems to be secure. He then sent me un-photoshopped images showing the Omega logo. I didn't request the box - it just came like that. It's just like Ebay but with an element of Russian Roulette thrown in ! You have to be creative in your search. I found this by searching for .. James Bond 50th Don't search for Omega or Rolex, you will not find anything. Be careful - this is not like shopping from a TD. you need to find an advert on the site for the watch you want and then contact the seller for more pictures or just buy it. But be careful - there are a lot of scammers on Aliexpress. Always look for a seller with a decent feedback score who has sold a lot of items.
